Carson City Fire Department was called Thursday afternoon to assist Central Lyon Fire for a chemical fire in the area of 16 Bruce Way off of Industrial Parkway in Mound House.

The Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program helps Nevada’s families affordably prepare their children for higher education by offering future in-state college tuition at today’s prices. The Program offers various payment plans to help meet the diverse needs of families across the silver state.

Nevada Humanities has been awarded $50,000 by The Federation of State Humanities Councils and The Andrew W. On January 6, 2021 the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office ended a three-week investigation into the death of Jason Kaspian. Kaspian was found dead in his Vista Grande Drive apartment on Dec. 19, 2020 of a suspected overdose.

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation announced Thursday that all unemployment insurance claimants and all Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claimants who still have weeks of eligibility in their accounts will see their regular weekly benefit and supplemental $300 in their accounts as early as this week.

A 60-year-old Carson City man was arrested Jan. 1 for suspicion of vehicle embezzlement, according to a sheriff's office booking report.

UPDATE: The pair were taken into custody this morning on Pinion Drive in Smith Valley without incident, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is looking for a pair involved in a vehicle theft Sunday in Smith Valley, which prompted authorities to briefly ask residents to shelter in place after the suspects fled on foot.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021 that there are 58 new cases and 11 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 9,466, with 4,777 recoveries and 122 deaths; 4,567 cases remain active.

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department reports the fire was knocked down at 1:57 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Sunday afternoon to a fire involving an RV near a mobile home off of Sherman Lane and Kit Sierra.

A Reno judge has determined that the state is no longer in contempt of court over stalled unemployment payments, after hearing that benefits were restarted for nearly 6,000 claimants since his initial finding of contempt earlier this month.
