Sheriff Furlong trying to get rid of Biker clubs?

I just got word that Sheriff Fulong is trying to get rid of the biker clubs in Carson City . You got to be kidding me, what has this country come to? Go get the guys that shoot up IHOP, the guy who is molesting children. You wont win this one, we have constitution rights and we will fight for them. Police are the most corrupt people I know. There's bad seeds in all aspects of clubs, including the police. All this is gonna do is bring us bikers closer together and make us stronger. The Blue nights who are cops where cuts too, you gonna close them down to?

Gov. Sandoval: One year after IHOP tragedy, our community stands strong

A year ago today, Carson City experienced an unspeakable event in the tragic shooting at our local IHOP restaurant. Whether you were at work, school, home or going about your day, you no doubt remember Sept. 6, 2011, and the senseless act of violence that touched our community. Fear and anxiety was followed by a sense of urgency and the desire to do something; and these emotions turned into sadness and grief. But through it all, as members of the Nevada family, we found each other.

Community moves forward with 'hope, strength and resolve'

Sheriff Ken Furlong remembers telling the media in the wake of last year's mass shooting at the Carson City IHOP that the community would rebound.
“We will rebuild,” he told them, “but we will not forget.”

Remembering the fallen, and moving on

Echos of gunshots from Eduardo Sencion had barely subsided when the chatter began that the Carson City IHOP would never open again, forever tarnished by a gunman's murderous rampage.

But this week the IHOP did reopen, with the governor, mayor and sheriff in attendance to reassure residents that we will not let the acts of a madman control our lives, that we can put this tragic episode behind us.

Carson City heroes save Christmas

Question: What do Santa, a clown, a platoon of police officers, and coffee have in common?

Answer: They were all at the Wal-Mart service center Friday morning.

The second day of the seventh-annual Holiday With a Hero shopping spree event kicked off at 9 a.m., with the volunteers being fed donuts and coffee. Santa and his Wal-Mart helpers stood prepped to welcome less-fortunate children and help pair them off with volunteers, who would help them spend their complimentary Wal-Mart gift cards.

Carson City IHOP reopens for business

Three months after the deadly shooting rampage that left four diners dead, the Carson City IHOP is once again serving up breakfast this morning.

One of the first diners at the reopened restaurant is Sheriff Kenny Furlong, who is currently enjoying his morning meal in a place that holds some bad memories for him and his deputies who responded to the the shooting on Sept. 6. Four people who were sitting inside the restaurant died after being shot by Eduardo Sencion, who killed himself minutes later in the parking lot.

Gov. Brian Sandoval, Mayor Bob Crowell and Supervisor John McKenna were also among the first diners at the restaurant this morning.

A video shot by Casino Fandango security captures IHOP gunman Eduardo Sencion firing his assault weapon in the parking lot. (See below)

The video reportedly shows Sencion exiting the restaurant after shooting the victims inside, and then shows him shooting B.J. Lejon, 67, who was standing near a motorcycle in the parking lot. Fortunately, the helmet she was wearing saved her life, according to Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong.

Lejon is seen trying to duck behind the motorcycle, but Sencion sees her. She said she begged him not to shoot her, to no avail. She is still recovering from her wounds.

Her husband, who was inside the restaurant but not wounded, didn't find out about his wife being shot until eight hours later because of all the chaos at the scene.

Life Bridge Event sponsored by Abowd & Rose Financial Group

Living in Northern Nevada over this past month, we’ve been the sad witnesses to how tragedy can affect the lives of so many. The horrible shooting at the Carson IHOP that left 4 dead and injured 7, followed by the fatal accident at the air races that took the lives of 11 people and injured more than 70, is a sad and real reminder of how short our time on this earth can be. Left behind are spouses, children, grandchildren and other friends. Along with the unexpected death of their loved one, often comes with a loss of income and other unexpected expenses.
