Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the South Carson Complete Streets Project groundbreaking ceremony, the International Film Festival held Friday and Saturday at the Carson City Community Center and Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie weekend with door-to-door cookie sales. Carson City’s own community radio station, KNVC, has been quietly churning out locally curated music, news, information and talk shows for about three years now, and they’re only gaining speed as time goes on.

KNVC runs out of the historic Adams House on North Minnesota Street and, at present, boasts 31 volunteers into its broadcasting family.

The Carson City School District is needing local community members to attend, weigh in and provide opinions at the quarterly Community PLC meeting, also known as Professional Learning Community, this Wednesday, February 26, 6 p.m., inside the Carson High School Library.

Nevada Commission for Women and the Nevada Women’s Suffrage Celebration Committee formed to help facilitate collaboration among organizations in Nevada to celebrate and commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment. Crowds at the Carson City caucuses were decidedly smaller this year thanks to the new early voting caucusing allowed by recent legislation.

Jerry Eugene Kilpatrick passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1940. He died on February 12, 2020.
