We honor those who have served our country today on this Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 12, 2018. Take a moment to thank those who have given in service and sacrifice to our great country, and remember those veterans who are no longer with us. Each summer, Carson City’s historic downtown district is dotted with vibrantly-colored petunias spilling forth from an array of flower baskets.

Barnum.” The Stewart Indian School in east Carson City has history reaching into the early days of our state.

It’s been a long road from 1972 to now — one that has wound through valleys and over peaks and has seen, despite the challenges, Jefferson Starship emerge stronger than ever.

Success, lifestyle, memories: All these describe yearbook.

For the 2017-2018 school year, a staff of 47 was dedicated to making a memorable book for others to keep throughout their lives and be passed down through generations; and again the book received the Gallery of Excellence Award, in which the book is used as an example of a successful yearbook in schools and at conferences across the country.

When organizers formed the Greenhouse Project 10 years ago in Carson City, their vision was to establish a sustainable program that provided wholesome, natural produce to the community.

What Carson City has benefited from over the past decade is exactly that.

About a decade ago, a group of community members organized a sustainable horticulture program targeting food insecurity in Carson City. They called it the Greenhouse Project, a not-for-profit effort to improve the quality of food available to the area’s most hungry.

The Greenhouse Project and Future Farmers of America teamed-up Saturday to host the annual Early Spring Plant Sale at Carson High School, featuring cold-hardy varieties for an early vegetable garden.
