It’s not simply the plants that put me over the top. It’s seeing what is done with the design: how the textures and shapes go together; how the colors are coordinated for complement and contrast.

Fundraiser for Carson City mom battling cancer is Saturday at Flat Earth Pizza

A fundraiser for a Carson City mother who is currently battling stage 4 breast, bone and liver cancer is set for this Saturday, April 27 at Flat Earth Pizza.

The fundraiser for Mila Mangone of Carson City is from opening to closing, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the pizza restaurant, located at 2010 E William Street. Portions of the proceeds collected at the fundraiser will help Mila's treatment plan.

On the windy morning of Saturday, April 6th, local gardening experts presented and answered questions at the Greenhouse Project’s Foothill Garden.

They were joined by the Greenhouse Garden Center, the Carson City Chamber Leadership Group of 2019, and the Great Basin Beekeepers of Nevada. Each organization presented their information on the variety of aspects that make a successful garden.

Pinwheels for Prevention cover Carson City Legislature, raising awareness to prevent child abuse

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Carson City has gone blue with the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign, a national event hosted by Carson City’s Advocates to End Domestic Violence, and Prevent Child Abuse Nevada.

On Friday, Carson City residents joined together to plant pinwheels across the Nevada Legislature's lawn, in an effort to raise awareness about preventing child abuse.

“The pinwheel is an uplifting reminder of childhood and the bright futures all children deserve,” a spokesperson for the national event said. “We want to reinforce the notion that healthy child development serves as a foundation for both community and economic development.”
