Tahoe Treasures Tour in July hosted by American Association of University Women

The American Association of University Women Tahoe-Nevada affiliate presents its bi-annual Tahoe Treasures Tour of spectacular Incline Village homes, on Saturday, July 14, 2018, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This self-guided tour showcases four of Incline’s most unique and beautiful properties, including a home and garden with a magically eclectic art collection, a stunning contemporary home with “a river running through it,” the North Lake Tahoe Demonstration Garden, which fosters mountain gardening and the extraordinary home of a talented painter, sculptor and print maker.

Final weekend for open burning in central Lyon County

We’re in for another gray day, but that won’t affect the fun to be had. Bike to Work Week always ends in a big bash. Head down to McFadden Plaza, even if you didn’t take the challenge personally. You’ll find live music, raffles, bike games, and too much fun. Western Nevada Musical Theater Company returns for another weekend of Singin’ in the Rain at the Bob Boldrick Theater. Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours are waiting to entertain you at the Brewery Arts Center. There may be some balcony seating still available, but tickets are very limited.

Greenhouse Project celebrating 10 years of fresh bounties in Carson City

About a decade ago, a group of community members organized a sustainable horticulture program targeting food insecurity in Carson City. They called it the Greenhouse Project, a not-for-profit effort to improve the quality of food available to the area’s most hungry.

Spring means sheep at C Hill

Sheep have arrived in West Carson City for their annual Spring feeding near C Hill.

A large herd of the woolly, cleft-hoofed herbivores can be seen grazing on grasses and shrubs along the backside of C Hill behind the Green House Garden Center off Rhodes and South Curry streets.

The sheep are brought in annually to help reduce wildfire fuels.

The Friends of the Carson City Library have invited local author Ron Bell to the Browsers Corner Book Store for a special meet and greet and book signing.
