Carpa Nevada, Flavors of India team up for annual Carson City Pets of the Homeless fundraiser

Five years ago, Chef Don Pepe launched a holiday fundraiser to help Pets of the Homeless, a Carson City-based 501(c)3 non-profit that raises money to provide food, veterinary care and other essentials to the pets of homeless persons.

Events include the 25th annual Carson High School Holiday Craft Fair, a “War of the Worlds” play at the Brewery Arts Center, a Chili Bingo Night fundraiser to benefit the Carson Middle School Band, laughs at the Carson Nugget and much more.

Fundraiser tonight in Dayton, Saturday in Carson City for young girl battling brain tumor

Tonight, (Wednesday night) in Dayton, the Sutro Elementary School Boosters Club will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for a student, Maliya Gafford, who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. A fundraiser is also planned for this Saturday in Carson City.

The dinner tonight is from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Sutro Elementary School multipurpose room, 190 Dayton Village Pkwy, Dayton.

The cost is $5. There will be a raffle, silent auction and a bake sale. Boosters will have a donation box in the office if you are unable to attend but would like to help.

Carson City Adele’s announces it has closed its doors, permanently, following March fire

With the closing of Cafe at Adele’s, Carson City and its community will witness the end of an era.

This decision by owners Chef Charlie and Karen Abowd, comes in the wake of a fire that occurred March 28, and the subsequent inability to negotiate a settlement with the insurance company that would cover reconstruction costs.
