Military veterans and seniors to take flight in WWII biplane: Public invited to attend and watch Dream Flights

Pre-selected military veterans and seniors will enjoy the thrill of a Dream Flight in a 1944 Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train military aviators during World War II. The flights are courtesy of Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF), a Carson City-based nonprofit that honors U.S. military veterans nationwide with free Dream Flights. AADF has given more than 3,700 Dream Flights nationwide since 2011.

Carson City-based Ageless Aviation expands fleet of Stearmans to honor military veterans

Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation's fleet is expanding.

CARSON CITY – Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF), a Carson City-based nonprofit that honors U.S. military veterans with free Dream Flights, is adding a re-stored 1943 Stearman biplane to its fleet, thanks to the fundraising efforts of a local community in Wisconsin.

Volunteers sought to help restore Carson City and Mills Park Railroad

The Carson City School District’s Bicycle Fun & Safety Day benefited the Carson City Schools Foundation this morning. The event was held at Fritsch Elementay School.

Sponsored by Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) and hosted by the Carson City School District, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), Safe Routes to School, local bike clubs and shops, the inaugural event served as a proving ground to acquaint experienced and less experienced bike riders with their eco-friendly transport mechanisms.

Clark County Board of Commissioners and City Councils of Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Mesquite in Nevada will start one each of their meetings during May with ancient Hindu prayers, containing verses from world’s oldest extant scripture.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed will deliver the invocations from ancient Sanskrit scriptures before these meetings. After Sanskrit delivery, he then will read the English interpretation of the prayers. Sanskrit is considered a sacred language in Hinduism and root language of Indo-European languages.

Spring is finally here, and Carson City is decked out in her spring finery. Sunday will be perfect for a stroll around town, so while you are out and about, stop by Mills Park for the Parks Foundation’s monthly open house at the Wungnema House, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The Wungnema House is the charming stone cottage located on the east side of Mills Park across from Carson High. It was built by a family of skilled Hopi stonemasons shortly after WWII and served as the family’s home until the early 1970s.

There is no admission fee, and all are welcome.

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, Creative Spark, at the Community Development Building, also known as the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

Thirty-two students from Carson, Dayton, Douglas, and Pioneer high schools have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Wednesday, April 10, 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Nevada Builders Alliance to reopen Jack’s Bar in Carson City as the Bank Saloon
