Sections of the Linear Ditch Trail in Carson City will be closed starting Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, for maintenance and cleaning. The multiuse path will be closed from the east end of the Linear Ditch, east of Fremont Elementary School and continue west to South Roop Street along Governor’s Field. Maintenance is anticipated to take up to several weeks.

A 51-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and driving without a valid license after allegedly striking a vehicle in a parking lot and then passing out, according to a Carson City sheriff's deputy report.

I-580 in Carson City reduced to one lane tonight through Sunday

Segments of the Interstate 580 Carson City Freeway will be reduced to a single lane throughout the weekend as part of a Nevada Department of Transportation project to resurface and enhance the interstate.

I-580 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between North Carson Street and College Parkway from 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 through 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 as crews stripe the newly-paved freeway and resurface bridge decks. Speeds will be reduced to 45 mph, and motorists should anticipate minor travel delays.

Historic Transcontinental Motor Convoy to roll Thursday through Carson City

Carson City is so full of amazing history that sometimes it boggles the mind. As we have always asserted, the true history of Nevada was made right here in Carson City and from time-to-time, we are reminded of our rich heritage.

One of those reminders will be evident once again on Thursday, Sept. 12 to commemorate the Centennial Celebration of the arrival of then Lt. Colonel Dwight D. Eisenhower who joined the convoy to test the shape of America’s roads and military vehicles as part of the first U.S. Army Transcontinental Motor Convoy that started in Washington, D.C. and ended in San Francisco.

Runners gather for 8th anniversary of IHOP shooting for Memorial Run, Walk

On Sept. 6, 2011, Nevada Guardsmen Lt. Col. Heath Kelly, 35, Master Sgt. Christian Riege, 38, Sgt. 1st Class Miranda McElhiney, 31, and Florence Donovan-Gunderson, 67, lost their lives in a senseless crime, when a man entered the Carson City IHOP and opened fire.

Now, eight years later, their memories are kept alive by their friends and family, and by the community they called home.

Nevada Guard set to commemorate IHOP victims at Carson City memorial run

The Nevada Guard is set to host a memorial run, walk on Friday, Sept. 6, to commemorate the victims of the International House of Pancakes shooting that occurred in 2011. The run, walk will start at the Carson City IHOP, 3883 S. Carson St., at 7 a.m.

A Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor evading police and reckless driving following a pursuit with sheriff's deputies that ended at a storage facility.
