October 5, 2014 - 10:00am This second annual Friends of Brooks Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 5 at Empire Ranch Golf Course in Carson City to honor Brooks Brolsma; his parents Allison and Owen Brolsma started the ‘Friends of Brooks Foundation’ in recognition of the need local families have when a loved one requires extensive medical treatment outside our immediate area. They appreciate the love and support shown them by friends, family, and local businesses, and have been raising money for Northern Nevadan families since.

There will be a number events including a 5K walk/run; bench pressing and a scramble golf tournament. Participate in one or more events. Proceeds will benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (75 percent) and the Kiwanis Scholarship Fund (25 percent).

Buyer emerges for Empire Ranch Golf Course

Silver Oak Golf Course owner Garth Richards has taken steps to buy the struggling Empire Ranch Golf Course, according to documents submitted this week to the Carson City Assessor's Office.
GSR Investments, a company connected with Richards, owner of Silver Oak Golf Course, has bought the deed of trust to the struggling 27-hole Empire Ranch Golf Course and has paid outstanding taxes owed to the city.

Behavioral Health Services will host the first Carson City Relay for Life Golf Tournament at Empire Ranch Golf Course on June 21, 2014. December's Empty Bowls Project in Carson City raises more than $2,700 for FISH

The Empty Bowls project, a locally organized fundraiser that culminated at the Carson City Silver and Snowflake Festival on Dec. 6 and was initiated to bring awareness of local hunger issues, raised $2,722.35 for Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, which feeds, houses and provides services for more than 20,000 people in Carson City annually.
