San Rafael Coffee Company & CASA of Carson City are hosting a Foster Kid's Gift Card Party.

Enjoy on-the-premises freshly roasted coffee and tasty pastries while listening to live entertainment by local musician Keith Barnett on Friday, September 17th from 5 to 6:30pm.

Admission is one (or more) pre-loaded gift card from your favorite retailer or card provider in any denomination, $10.00, $50.00, $100.00 or more. (Ask the retailer to donate them)

Thanks to the community's generosity and quick response, in less than 24 hours the Carson City Library Foundation met its goal of collecting 16 donated artificial Christmas trees.

The trees will help create a New York “Tavern on the Green” atmosphere at the Foundation’s New Year’s Eve party, scheduled December 31 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm this year at the State Library and Archives. The event will also feature a gourmet buffet, music, raffle, live and silent auctions, and Times Square-style ball drop.

Under a crescent moon in the thick of summer, Carson City was alive Wednesday night with great music, food, friends and the very best representation of community and spirit.

The final games of pool were being played today at Doppelgangers Brewery and Tap Room in Carson City, with the winners being Carson City community organizations.

You still have a couple of days left to donate to the Children's Museum rummage sale. Just drop off your gently used items (no clothing please) at the museum from 10am to 4:30pm Thursday & Friday, June 10th & 11th.

Be sure to come by on Saturday and check out the great stuff at the Rummage Sale! Ann Street will be closed off and there will be bargains galore! You never know what treasures you will find at the CMNN REALLY BIG Rummage Sale.

The developer chosen for the Carson Nugget Redevelopment Project will be on hand tonight to answer questions about the project.

Rick Oshinski, CEO of Sacramento-based P3 Development, will appear before the Carson Nugget Development Advisory Committee tonight in the Community Center's Sierra Room.

Carson Now plans to show live video of the meeting, as well as hosting a discussion forum.

Many questions are sure to arise, concerning the details on the project and its scope, as well as the developer and how the company was chosen.

As I've been talking to people about this project, I've collected a number of questions, that I put together below.

Lake Tahoe-based McCall Realty (www.mccalltahoe.com) will donate all its profits through 2010 to five area children’s non-profit organizations: Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), South Lake Tahoe Police Activities League (PAL), South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center, and Tahoe Youth and Family Services.

Jaden Veiga just turned 5 and he was diagnosed last Christmas with a brain tumor. The family needs the communities help to continue his care. Go to any U.S. Bank location and donate to the account of "Jaden Veiga Donation Act. #153754034822" or come to Bouncerz Indoor Party Center on Saturday, March 27th from 2p.m. to 7p.m.

Ford Motor Company and Capital Ford partnered on Saturday to help raise money in support of Carson City High School as part of Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program.

One of the first questions I heard raised about the Nugget redevelopment project had to do with who would own the land.

Some people have the false impression that the Carson Nugget is donating the land to the city.

As it has been proposed, the new library, public plaza and other pieces paid for by the city would be sitting on land owned by the foundation created by Nugget President Steve Neighbors, in accordance with the wishes of late owner Mae Adams.

In what can only be called a command performance, Capital Ford will be raising up to $6,000 for Carson High Boys Baseball on the 6th of March, from 9 to 5.
