The Tintabulations Handbell Choir will be returning to the Carson City Library on Saturday, April 28th for an 11:00 a.m. performance! The Dreams & Magic handbell concert will include a variety of music to go along with our upcoming Summer Reading Program Theme, "Dream Big, Read!" including nocturnal motifs and several well-known pieces from Disney movies. He will present "Success.....It's in our Blood," at Sarah Winnemucca Hall, Aspen Building, in a free event that is open to both students and the community.

Former Northern Nevada resident Alyson Meidell Jenkins reports that she and her family are safe but shaken after a 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit Japan's eastern coast, causing a devastating tsunami that killed at least 10,000 and widespread damage.

Japan's advanced earthquake early-warning system, with more than 1,000 seismographs scattered over the country alerted the public of an imminent earthquake via television, Internet and text-messages. At 2:46 local time, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake arrived, the largest that Japan has seen in one hundred years, just off the eastern coast of Sendai, Honshu.

A couple of fine shows on tap this weekend for Carson City folk. One is a children's production, Aladdin, Jr." at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The other is the venerable "Sound of Music," staged by the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company, affiliated with our local college.
