As I now conclude this particular article, it is just hours away from one of America's most revered events--if not the most. President-elect Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building at 12:00 noon on January 20, and Mike Pence will be duly sworn in as the Vice-President of the United States.

Here is the 2017 State of the State presented by Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval.

Raynna Jackson began helping with Toys for Tots at the Ron Wood center before Thanksgiving in order to fulfill her CHS Senior Project graduation requirement; she decided to help give underprivileged children a Merry Christmas.

She started by putting boxes at CHS and her mother’s place of employment, Natel Company. Toys for Tots serves more than 2,000 Carson City area kids every Christmas, and Raynna took this personally; she wanted to help bring in even more gifts. Raynna ultimately facilitated the gathering of 2 large boxes of toys.

Ten years from now, you probably won't remember Christopher Suprun.

Suprun was chosen by the Texas Republican Party for the Electoral College. For most of our nation's history, this has been a procedural and honorary duty conferred upon loyal activists within the political parties when their presidential candidate carried their state.

Thanksgiving isn't a patriotic holiday per se, but it is full of patriotic feelings as Americans did and should give thanks for our shared blessings as a nation.

American history provides enough examples of petulant third parties handing electoral victory to the wrong candidate. Teddybear Roosevelt's ego gave us Woodrow Wilson. Ross PeeRot gave us Bubba Clinton (and therefore, Hillary???).

A little good humor on Nevada's 152nd birthday.

Did you know that Nevada became the 36th state admitted to the Union entirely by telegraph?

Last week we discussed the state ballot measure that would legalize the recreational use of marijuana in Nevada. We have mixed views on that issue, but there are three other important state ballot questions we oppose.

Question 1 would require background checks for almost all gun sales or transfers. That might sound harmless enough or maybe even beneficial to some folks. But it’s quite the opposite.

The corrupt Clinton criminals are repeating this strategy of divide and conquer again in this election and every voter should understand that any Republican vote for third parties helps insure victory for the lollipop guild Hillary who is as intelligent, and honest, as she is tall. The Clinton's crime family rose to power using the divide and conquer assistance of Ross Perot. The Clinton's can win again with only a minority of votes because many voters split the electorate three ways.

Since the rise of the Clinton and Obama Regimes, the Constitution has been shredded by the office of the President. The Congress and the Supreme Court neither has the will nor the majorities needed to reign in the unconstitutional acts of the socialists who are subjugating our constitution and our nation. Some younger folks are providing for the financial assistance of their parents or grandparents. If they just give money, it does not reduce the income tax for the young giver. They make the gifts from money left after they pay income taxes.

No one should have to fight blindly against the enemy — knowledge IS power, and the truth of any situation even more powerful. No one has ever had all the facts for a set of circumstances or a certain situation, only God has the entire picture, so human expertise has its limitations. However, gathering as many facts as possible, organizing them in a logical progression, studying them carefully, looking for strengths and weaknesses, can ultimately bring together a rather comprehensive picture for all to see.

Recently, and over breakfast with two of my friends and colleagues, I was presented with an interesting question.

“What would happen if neither Hillary Clinton, nor, Donald Trump in the general election, did not receive the required Electoral College votes to become President of the United States. What would happen?”

This piqued my curiosity, as the American people are somewhat unsettled as to who they should vote for to be the next President of the United States.

They're entitled to their views. However, they’ve been wildly misrepresenting key facts about the matter and about the actions and words of Ron, who is leading the effort to repeal the tax. Below, we set them and the record straight.

The Constitution is the greatest achievement of man to date in defining a government to sustain Liberty for its people. Governments exist between two poles of thought. One pole is the Government is all important and powerful and people exist to serve the Government (slave). The other pole is People create governments to protect their Rights (free). Carson City – Chris Forbush, candidate for State Assembly District 40 against PK O’Neill, was the only candidate in the race to receive endorsement from the Carson City Republican Party. The official endorsement was announced following the GOP County Convention held in Carson City on April 9th.

Obama's third term as President

Carson City – Amid increased campaign momentum, Carson City resident Chris Forbush officially declared his candidacy for Assembly District 40 on March 18th.

Since being the first candidate to announce his bid for the Assembly seat back in January, Forbush has been building a strong organization prepared to reach every Republican voter in the District in person before the Republican Primary on June 14th.

Like all students of Carson High School over the past 16 years, Honors Student Tyler Warren, since his freshman year, thought about what he would be doing for his senior project, a graduation requirement for every student who hopes to receive a diploma from CHS.

National Honor Society is hosting its winter blood drive. It will take place on January 28 in the library from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. It is open to community members.  Refreshments and a free cholesterol test is available with each donation.
