Nevada 150 Sesquicentennial events lined up through September

Over 400 events have been held across the Silver State since Nevada Day 2013, in celebration of Nevada’s Sesquicentennial, with many more ahead. Douglas County requests State of Emergency for cumulative flash flooding

The cumulative series of floods has now exceeded the county’s resources, and the declaration will allow for help with repairing public infrastructure such as County Maintained roads, culverts, and drainage.

Dogs of War Poker Run Saturday to benefit veterans

All proceeds from this event will go to support Veterans in need from our community, a portion going to a WW2 Veteran who was victimized during a home invasion on Memorial Day.

State celebrates 'Discover Nevada State Parks' with free admission June 14

Park visitors will receive free day use admission and free fishing (no license required) at all of Nevada’s 23 State Parks. In addition, the first 150 vehicles at each park on June 14 will receive a complimentary deck of commemorative Nevada Heritage playing cards provided by Nevada’s State Historic Preservation Office and its partners.

The service will honor the 126 Nevada Peace Officers that have been killed in the line of duty. In 1998, the memorial was dedicated on the Capitol grounds to recognize the ultimate sacrifice these officers made in service of their communities.

There will be a trivia contest on board with prizes for those with their thinking caps on. Passengers will be let off the train in order to gaze through telescopes at the night sky, guided by the Dark Rangers of Great Basin National Park. This is a great train ride that the whole family can enjoy.
