Carson Valley Pops Orchestra Holiday Concert set for Dec. 10

Let the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra put your family in a festive mood at their annual Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. on December 10 at the Carson Valley CVIC Hall.

This free concert will feature traditional tunes such as White Christmas, Oh Holy Night and Silent Night. The Voices of the Sierra Choir will perform several holiday selections and the always-popular holiday sing along is also planned.

Led by Co-Conductors Stephanie Reynolds and C.J. Birch, this performance is a perfect way to celebrate the holidays with your friends and family.

Consort Canzona, a select group of instrumentalists and singers that specializes in early music, will present two “Lessons and Carols” concerts this Holiday Season: Friday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m., at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, 3680 Highway 395 (just south of Best Buy) in Carson City, and Saturday, Dec. 3, 5 p.m., at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville. Admission to both concerts is free, donations welcome.

Reno Phil presents free family concert at the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts

Each fall the Reno Phil offers families the opportunity to experience a symphonic music concert developed with youngsters in mind; full of musical education and activities to keep the attention of the young audience. Irish-American singer-songwriter Ryan Davidson appears at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City this Saturday to open the 2016-2017 season of BAC’s popular Celtic Series.

Carson City Symphony to begin rehearsals for 33rd season

Attention musicians: The Carson City Symphony will begin rehearsals for the 2016-17 concert season on Wednesday, August 31, 7:00 to 9:15 p.m., at the Carson High School band room, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.

The Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, is a volunteer orchestra of about 60 players who perform music from the 15th to 21st centuries. It is open to string players at any time without audition, and to other instrumentalists when positions are available.

Mile High Jazz Band Association and Carson City present the 13th Annual Jazz & Beyond Festival. It features 17 days of Music and Art at multiple venues in Carson City, August 5-21.
