The Reno Aces Baseball Club and Professional Sports Catering have revamped and reinvented the menus at Greater Nevada Field in 2017, officials announced Thursday. Additional game day concepts for the 2017 season include numerous brisket and bacon options, specialty hot dogs for every opponent, and an 1868 Burger, inspired by Reno 1868 FC.

Spring has sprung, but apparently Mother Nature didn’t get the memo. Join the Carson Victory Rollers at the Carson Mall and take part in an indoor wine walk and rummage sale. Help Hot Spot Yoga and Fitness for Life celebrate their grand opening with free classes, health vendors, a 5K run, and more. Hit the dance floor with the High Sierra Swing Dance Club; their monthly dance party is held in the Grand Ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center. The Dayton Chili Cookers are again partnering with Healthy Communities Coalition’s Dayton Food Pantry for a big chili cookoff, Superbowl party, silent auction,and raffle to benefit the Pantry.

The event begins at noon on Sunday, February 5th at the Dayton Valley Golf Course and Grill. Judging begins at 1 p.m.

I hope everyone enjoyed the few hours of sunshine Wednesday, because we’re in for it now. Hopefully, the snow won’t cause as much flooding. I feel compelled to include the disclaimer that all of the following events are subject to change: this storm has the potential to wreak some havoc, so stay safe out there. The January Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC) meeting has been canceled since the Nevada Human Services Network award breakfast is at the same time. Healthy Communities would like for staff and group partners to have time to attend the important awards ceremony in Reno to honor the very deserving awardees.

Am I the only one suffering flashbacks to the Flood of ’97? It is soggy out there with no signs of letting up soon. Please drive carefully, some of those puddles may be deeper than they look. If the kids are getting cabin fever on their winter break, head to the Carson Library for Lego Club this afternoon. Thursday always offers karaoke: the boys of J and M Productions host it at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar. If your motorcycle is feeling neglected in the garage, head to Battle Born Harley for their monthly Bike Night, and commiserate with fellow riders over a game of pool, a pint, or some darts.

Kids will have fun at Lego Club at the Carson City Library this afternoon, but it’s adults only for Trivia Night with Geeks who Drink. Just a few days left before the big day. Get your fill of holiday music as the Ninth Annual Christmas Carol Play-along for Strings returns to Carson Mall. Even if you don’t play an instrument, voices are more than welcome to contribute to the tunes. Wintertime is perfect for curling up with a good book, join the Library’s Winter Read-a-thon to win some great prizes. Carson Cigar Company is throwing a party featuring Ev ‘Cheese the Knife’ Musselman of the Tripping King Snakes: they’ve been selling raffle tickets to benefit Food for Thought, so head down to support this great charity.

The Carson City Library has something in common with the epic spaghetti western ‘The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly’: they are both 50 years old. Celebrate the classic film and our classy library with an afternoon showing of the movie. Join Cherie Shipley at the Brewery Arts Center; the annual ‘Joyful Noise’ Community Holiday Show is full of cheer for all ages. Our high school and middle school student orchestras invite you to their free winter concert at the Community Center this evening. Living the Good Life welcomes singer/songwriter Liam Kyle Cahill back to their stage tonight.

For 15 years, employees of the First Judicial District Court, Carson City Justice and Municipal Court and Alternative Sentencing Department adopt families and seniors for the holiday season. Through employee and judge donations, gifts and food are given to families from Advocates to End Domestic Violence and to seniors to brighten their holidays.

It’s a winter wonderland out there, but it does come with unique perils. Please give yourself extra time to get where you’re going, the roads may be slick. The weekend is quickly approaching bringing fun events like the State Railroad Museum’s Santa Train, a special performance by Antsy McClain at the Brewery Arts Center, and the return of the drive-through Living Nativity at the United Methodist Church. Normally my weekend list is sorted by chronological start time, but for this one I will be separating out the downtown parade related activities for your ease. Parade Day Fun Stuff in Downtown Carson City:

• BAWN Pancake Breakfast Buffet at Red’s Old 395 (6am-10am; $6/$3 kids)

Nevada is one of the few states that celebrate its Admission Day, and boy do we throw a party. A parade, competitions of strength and facial hair, hot air balloons, bloody marys, a carnival, pow wow, and free chili are just a few of the festivities awaiting the capital city on Saturday.

The party begins Friday this year with a ribbon cutting celebration of the 'new' downtown. The Nevada State Museum hits its 75th Anniversary this year and will have a day full of fun and surprises. Keep reading to see where you need to take advantage of all the best this holiday weekend has to offer.

If today is any indication of how hard it is going to choose between fun activities, we have a tough few days ahead. The Carson Tahoe Spooktacular is an annual favorite for the kids, complete with treats, activities, and helicopers. It’s Family Night at the RSVP Nevada Day Carnival: thanks to Carson City Toyota-Scion, all rides are just $1. Dayton offers a Haunted Hayride through their old town history. Costumes are encouraged for this family fun event. Root beer floats await at the grand opening celebration of the newly renovated FISH.

You know you’re probably going to need some coffee, so head over to Dutch Brothers in the Carson Mall parking lot. One dollar of every drink goes to the Carson High Safe Grad Celebration. Western Nevada College is hosting an open house in the Reynolds Center for Technology featuring some of their great programs. Stick around for the artist reception celebrating the ‘521 Days’ exhibit by artist Wes Lee in the Bristlecone Building’s main gallery. Stop what you’re doing at 10:20 a.m. and brace yourself: the Great Nevada Shake-out Drill reminds us to be ready for earthquakes.

— Carson Street will be closed between Musser and Fifth on Monday only.
— Fifth Street is open to east and westbound traffic, Musser Street is open to east and westbound traffic.
— Robinson will be closed at Carson Street, both east and west side for the week, Monday through Friday.
— Carson Street will be open north and southbound Tuesday through Friday.
