While statewide gaming revenue slips, Carson City soars 7.3 percent in March

Carson City area gaming revenues grew 7.3 percent in March, according to figures released Wednesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Casinos in Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and all other areas of Douglas County with the exception of South Lake Tahoe, took in a gaming “win” of $8,637,614 for the month, as compared to $8,049,618 in March 2014. Statewide, Nevada gaming revenue in March fell 3.15 compared to March 2014.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log for Wednesday

A 45-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 5:28 a.m. in the 1200 block of Woodside Drive on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery after allegedly hitting her daughter with a wood back scratcher on the left side of her face and then punching and kicking her daughter in the stomach. Bail: $3,137.

Carson City area gaming revenue up in February, down statewide

Gaming revenue in Carson City increased by 2.64 percent in February, but the state overall saw revenue down by 1 percent compared with February 2014 figures, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Carson City area casinos, which included those in Minden, Gardnerville and other areas in Douglas County except Stateline, took in gaming revenue, also called “win” of $7,655,250 for the month.

A world recorder holder will be on stage live, March 27, 7:30 p.m. at the Carson Comedy club inside the Carson Nugget. Geechy Guy landed himself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records record when he told 676 jokes in one hour.

Geech was invited to San Francisco to compete in the prestigious Comedy where he finished in the top 10 out of 500 comics, two years in a row. Shortly after Geech secured a spot on TV’s “Star Search,” (where he beat Ray Romano among others) and went on to set the record for the most appearances by a comedian.

Carson City area casinos pulled in solid gaming revenue numbers for the first month of the year, seeing a 3.8 percent increase over January 2014 figures, the Nevada Gaming Control Board said Friday.

Casinos in Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and other areas of the Douglas County except Stateline, had gaming revenues, also known as “win” that amounted to $7,544,068 in January.

Carson City deputies make multiple DUI and drug related arrests over the weekend

A 26-year-old Stateline man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and other charges after a traffic stop in the 4000 block of South Curry Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, during a consensual stop at a parked car in a movie theater parking lot at 1:57 a.m., an officer asked the man, Daniel Louis Allen, for identification.

Douglas County gears up for Lake Tahoe New Year's Eve Celebration at Stateline

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is making preparations for the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebration at Lake Tahoe starting on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014.

Due to the ordinarily high volume of celebrants within the Stateline casino core area during the event, U.S. Highway 50 may be closed to vehicle traffic in the evening if necessary for public safety. If that should occur, vehicle traffic will be diverted around the Stateline casino core area using upper and lower Lake Parkway Drive.

Nevada gaming figures down in October, soar at Lake Tahoe

Carson City area casino gaming profits for October fell less than a percent compared to figures for the same time last year. Statewide, gambling revenue decreased 4.26 percent in October, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Casinos at south shore Lake Tahoe at Stateline continue to show a rebound, despite the closing of the Horizon Casino in April, with it subsequently opening as the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in January 2015. Gaming revenue at South Shore was up 52.75 percent for the month over October 2013 figures.

Reno to London nonstop flights to begin in December 2015

Northern Nevada's first non-stop flight service between Reno and London’s Gatwick Airport will begin in December 2015, Reno-Tahoe International Airport officials announced Tuesday.

In partnership with Ski Lake Tahoe and the gaming community, the airport will offer twice-a-week service between Reno-Tahoe and London, England on Thomas Cook Airlines.

Carson City area casinos see September revenue rise, statewide figures down 6 percent

Carson City area casinos saw a 1.35 increase in gaming revenue in September, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reports Tuesday. Statewide, however, Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming license holders report an overall decrease of nearly 6 percent over 2013 figures.

At Lake Tahoe, casinos at Stateline south shore saw revenues increase 7.18 percent over September 2013 and a 15.44 percent decrease with casinos at the north shore.

Last weekend we got up to South Lake Tahoe to check out some of the trails they’ve been building up there. To get to the trailhead, we headed south on Pioneer Trail road just past the Casinos, then east on Oneidas Street near Meyers. We followed Oneidas Street until it became a narrow Forest Service road known as Fountain Place Road. We parked just past the creek crossing at a trailhead parking area.

Carson City area casinos saw around a 3 percent increase in gaming revenue for the month of August, though statewide figures were down according to figures released Friday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Carson City area casinos, which include those in Minden, Gardnerville and all areas of Douglas County except for Stateline, took in a gaming “win” of $9,023,314 for August, compared to $8,763,685 in August 2013. The increase comes out to 2.96 percent.

Attract tourist dollars to Nevada by using Highway 95

As an incentive for Telsa and other companies to build in the Reno – Tahoe Industrial Center on USA Parkway and benefit Nevada, Interstate 11 should be built from Yerrington to tie into the Reno – Tahoe Industrial Center and to I-80. This should be presented to Telsa now.

Interstate 11 should be built parallel to US Highway 95 from Las Vegas to Tonapah on a straight line from Tonaph to Yerrington. Also I- 580 should be extended from Carson City to Yerrington which would give a direct route to Carson City and Reno.
