Carson City fire and rescue were called to a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist this afternoon at the corner of Elm and Thompson streets.

Four vehicles involved in Hot Springs Road accident

UPDATE: One person was taken by ground ambulance to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, according to Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi. Also, a Carson City sheriff's officer noted that four vehicles were involved, not five as was initially reported to dispatch.

The Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's office responded to an vehicle accident with four vehicles involved, according to dispatch. The accident is in the 400 block of Hot Springs Road and was reported at around 3:38 p.m.
Arriving medical personnel were checking for injuries.

Structure fire at Carson City Inn leads to evacuations

Carson City firefighters responded early Saturday evening to a fire at the Carson City Inn, in the 1900 block of North Carson Street. At least one person was injured.

Evacuation of the complex was in place soon after firefighters arrived when it was reported at 5:41 p.m. Flames and smoke were coming from the building as firefighters arrived, with a smoke plume coming from stairwells near the point of origin, according firefighters on scene.

Man booked into Carson City Jail on felony warrant of lewdness with a child

A 52-year-old Bryan Circle man was arrested Thursday on a felony warrant charge of lewdness with a child under the age of 14, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

John Andrew Zglinski was taken into at 10:39 a.m. after deputies arrived at his home to serve him the warrant, issued April 28, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. When deputies arrived, the door to Zglinski's home was open and he walked outside, according to the arrest report. Bail was set at $150,000.

Wheeler spokesman: Assemblyman gets two stents but doesn't have heart problem

Minden Republican Assemblyman Jim Wheeler had two stents implanted on Saturday but his spokesman says it wasn't a result of a heart attack and the press was wrong to say he had one, according to a news release.

Nevada District 39 Assemblyman, Jim Wheeler, checked into the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center Hospital early this Saturday morning after awakening with chest pains, said his press spokesman Steve Donahue.

Carson City man arrested at motel on suspicion of felony parole and probation violation

A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning and placed on a felony parole and probation hold after allegedly violating conditions of his alternative sentencing agreement.

Mark Edward Davis was booked into Carson City Jail on the charge after being arrested at a motel in the 2700 block of South Carson Street. A Reno man was also arrested on a misdemeanor warrant.

Fights, foot chases and felony drug arrests keep Carson City deputies busy over weekend

A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after a chase through a field near Highway 50 and Fairview Drive.

Hector Cervantes is being held in Carson City Jail without bail on a parole violation charge and $10,428 bail for other charges.

According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies responded at 12:31 a.m. to the 2800 block of Century Drive where there had been several people outside a home yelling and screaming. It turned out to be a large house party where several underage people were drinking.

V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train set for April 12

The Fifth Annual V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train, sponsored by the Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary, will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014.

The Train departs Carson City Eastgate Depot at 10:00am for a trip through the Comstock to Virginia City and will return to Carson City at 3:00pm. Tickets are $70.00 per person. Ticket includes: Wine, Cheese and Dessert to and from Virginia City, lunch in Virginia City, a shuttle to and from the Virginia City station to Main Street, plus other amenities.

Carson City driver injured in crash with school bus

The driver of a car collided with the rear end of school bus late Friday morning near the intersection of Highway 50 East and Lompa Lane. The bus didn't have any children inside.

The driver of the car was taken by ambulance to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Dan Lopez. She was issued a citation for the crash. The driver of the bus was not injured.

Carson City man arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse

A Carson City man was arrested Friday on suspicion of felony child abuse. Terry Ray Kilfian was arrested in the 2200 block of Roop Street at 12:19 p.m.

According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies met with the 12-year-old victim who claimed his father punched him in the face, then kicked him on the side in his ribs. The child had visible injuries to his neck, face and ribcage, according to the arrest report.

Carson City Sheriff: Woman in hospital murder-suicide attempt dies, husband faces murder charge

The victim of Sunday morning's shooting at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has died, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The victim, Francis Dresser, 86, and her husband, lived of Douglas County. Carson City sheriff’s detectives have amended the arrest charges for William Dresser, Francis’ husband, to murder. Dresser remains in custody on suicide watch at the Carson City Jail on $225,000 bond.

Elderly man accused of shooting paralyzed wife at Carson City hospital intended to kill her, himself

An 88-year-old Minden man accused of shooting his wife at a Carson City hospital on Sunday told the arresting officer that he put four bullets in a handgun with the intent of killing the woman and himself, saying she had recently become paralyzed in an accident.

Carson Tahoe Health, University of Utah Health Care partner to improve specialist access

Officials from Carson Tahoe Health announced a new partnership Thursday with Salt Lake City-based University of Utah Health Care that will extend the resources of a premier academic medical center to Carson City, Douglas County, Dayton and the surrounding communities.

Carson Tahoe Health Hosts Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training Course

Carson Tahoe Health in Carson City was selected by the International Order of Forensic Nurses as the West Coast site for the clinical portion of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training course. The training took place on November 18 and 19 at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center where 15 nurses were certified, four of which are employed by Carson Tahoe Health.

Carson Tahoe’s twelfth annual Think Pink campaign kicks off on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 to honor Breast Cancer Awareness month. Red’s Old 395 Grill will once again host the event from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Carson City.

Carson City weekend arrests include misdemeanor assault on officer, disorderly conduct

A 19-year-old Carson City man faces five misdemeanor charges including assaulting a police officer after he barricaded himself inside his father's bedroom, with the father asking officers to have his son removed.

The man was arrested at 9:20 p.m., Sept. 7 in the 900 block of Woodside Drive. According to arrest report, officers were in the area attempting to locate the man, a known gang member, following a fight earlier in which he fled from officers.

Carson Tahoe prepares for 'Hazardous' air quality

CARSON CITY — Currently, Carson Tahoe Health has experienced only a slight increase in patient volumes due to respiratory concerns linked to the “Hazardous” air quality caused by the Rim Fire.

Carson Tahoe Health has taken steps to proactively prepare and protect patients within CTH facilities. Precautions include consolidating entrances at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center and Carson Tahoe Specialty Medical Center. These inpatient care areas have been equipped with air scrubbers and fans which have effectively maintained good air quality within the facilities.

Carson City sheriff describes tense scene with gunman at Olive Garden restaurant Sunday

At 8:53 Sunday evening, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified of a violent threat at the Olive Garden Restaurant on South Carson Street.

Initial reports indicated that a man, later identified as David Paul Lane had entered the business alone and at some point became agitated, then confronted the manager and staff with a loaded semi-automatic pistol.
