Carson City’s own community radio station, KNVC, has been quietly churning out locally curated music, news, information and talk shows for about three years now, and they’re only gaining speed as time goes on.

KNVC runs out of the historic Adams House on North Minnesota Street and, at present, boasts 31 volunteers into its broadcasting family.

The Carson High School community is mourning the loss of Jake Roman, a 2017 CHS graduate and son of Athletic Director, teacher and head football coach Blair Roman. Jake died from injuries in a snowmobile accident at Lake Tahoe, according to friends of the family.

The Carson High School Football team wrapped up their spring practices Thursday with a 7 on 7 match-up with the Fernley Vaqueros. It was a positive showing for the Senators as Quarterback Will Breeding threw four touchdowns to four different receivers.

The event was attended by more than 225 players, coaches, family members and supporters. Coach Blair Roman awarded his outgoing senior class various awards for their commitment to Carson football over the past 4 years and discussed the rebuilding process taking place in the program at this time.

There are so many businesses — way too many to list — who have given time and time again to Carson City students from Kindergarten through grade 12, so that they might go on trips locally or across the country, usually having to do with academics or sports.

Graduation for the class of 2016 is Saturday, June 4, and the ceremony begins at 10 a.m. on the Carson High School football field in Carson City.

One last photo opportunity will happen the morning of graduation. This is the photo of everyone together wearing caps and gowns. The 2016 senior class photo will be taken in the gym, so all seniors must arrive at the school, and meet in the gym by 8:45 a.m.

Carson High School sports medicine program provides more than just education

Caroline Gabica slid activated hand warmers into her boots, picked up a bag of footballs and followed the coach out onto the field during the playoff game between Carson and Reed high schools in November. Soon Gabica, manager for the Carson High School Senators football team, was back on the sidelines, taping up the injured fingers of a player who got tangled up with another player’s face mask.

The attempt at the ‘World’s Largest Human Christmas Tree' will take place on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at the Carson High School Football Field. Gates open at 10 a.m., and the record attempt begins at 11 a.m. This is an all-ages event, but keep in mind the cold weather and participants must STAND STILL for six minutes for the record to count. Please wear red, green, or brown clothing.

Senator Square: Senior aims to be new world record holder

Senior student Taylor Weddell presents the following information about her senior project. “At Carson High, every senior participates in a Senior Project, I wanted to do something completely different and still help some kind of organization or group. I jumped at the opportunity to participate in an event that brings a community together, raises funds and breaks a world record. It was a little intimidating for sure, but I’m working closely with the Board of Directors of the Carson City Schools Foundation and learning so much in the process.

Carson City Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading invites children and teenagers ages 5 to 15 to register to play on the Senators football and cheerleading teams. Registration continues today, Saturday, until to 2 p.m. in front of both Carson City Walmarts.

The event begins at 6 p.m. and will be an evening of great food (provided by Carson BBQ), music, silent auction and raffle as well as an induction ceremony for several former Carson High School Football greats into the Carson High Hall of Fame.

Under bright and sunny skies in Carson City, Carson High School said goodbye and congratulations to their class of 2015.
Families and friends of the graduates packed into the Carson High School football field at 10 a.m. on Saturday, straining their necks and ears to see and hear the name of their graduating loved ones. Carson High Football Program Supports Food for Thought

Food for Thought would like to thank the Carson High School Football Program for hosting an outstanding food drive. In effort to return some support to the community the football program wanted to do something that would have a great, positive impact during their bye week. A few ideas were tossed around before settling on Food For Thought as the organization they would like to help out.

Food For Thought is a local organization that provides weekend food for school aged children in the community that are chronically hungry.

Senator Square: Academic achievement, scouting leadership put Carson senior in spotlight

This week’s Carson High senior spotlight is on Tyler Torres. Tyler has a GPA of 4.62 and has increasingly challenged himself with honors and/or AP classes every year, earning academic letters the past two years. He is currently taking four AP classes in his senior year. Talented and well-rounded, Tyler has been in Chamber Choir since freshman year. He has also been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years and Link Crew for two years. To further develop his leadership ability, Tyler has been involved in Boy Scouts since middle school.

Season kickoff Saturday for Carson High Senators

It’s only three days away from the first kickoff of the season for the Carson High School football squad. The first game will get underway Saturday against Clayton Valley High School in Concord, Calif., at 8 p.m. That game will be a very good game if Carson can step up to the plate. Clayton Valley is a very good team; however, with head coach Blair Roman’s focus on keeping the team in amazing physical condition and his sharp eye on what Clayton Valley does both offensively and defensively, I think it is a very achievable task to not only compete but win too.

Carson beats Damonte Ranch 44-17

The Carson Senators defeated the Damonte Ranch Mustangs Friday night 44-17. Next week the Senators play the Miners of Bishop Manogue. That game is at Carson High School next Friday at 7:00pm in the semifinal round for the regional playoffs.

Play off games on Veterans Day?

I'm Nick Durst. I have been filming allot of the games for Carson Now. I am just curious about how come on Nevada Day schools play on that Thursday. But this Friday is Veterans Day and there will be high school football on Friday night instead of Thursday night. It just doses not make sense. Any way if you go This Friday night at 7:00pm Carson Plays Damonte Ranch High School. This will be at Carson high school. Last time the two teams played it was at Damonte ranch for the regular season. Which Carson won 28-21. Now they play for round one of the regional playoffs.
