The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company gets into the festive spirit beginning Friday with a magical production to marks its 25th season with the Broadway blockbuster musical "Mary Poppins."

“The entire company is bursting with excitement for this production,” said producer and director Stephanie Arrigotti. “Anyone who has seen the stage version of this show will understand their excitement.”

After a sizzling September of scintillating songs on the stage of the Cabaret Lounge, Rick J. Radecki returns to the best place for live entertainment in northern Nevada, Casino Fandango in Carson City. Rick’s closing out the year in style with a brand-new high-energy edition of “Throwback Thursdays” at 5:30 p.m. in the Ti Amo Italian Grille.

As the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company celebrates its 25th anniversary with a long-awaited production of “Mary Poppins,” weekends, Nov. 6 through 21, the company is also reflecting on the impact it has made in Northern Nevada.

In addition to the high quality theatre that it has offered the region, many former student/performers have gone on to careers in Hollywood, on Broadway, in academia and more.

An open audition will be Saturday for Youth Theatre Carson City's production of 'The Wiz.' Ease on down the yellow brick road with the theater group this fall with the fabulously funky version of The Wizard of Oz.

The one-man Broadway comedy “Defending the Caveman” is coming to the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center at 8 p.m. Saturday.

“It is all about the sexes and how they see and hear the same topics of conversation in very different ways,” said Phyllis Patton, president of the Friends of the Carson City Library. “We can all relate to at least one of these scenarios. It’s guaranteed laughter and elbow pokes to the ribs throughout the evening.”

The Silver State’s own crooner and classic country cowboy, Rick J. Radecki of Carson City, stops in at Casino Fandango to help celebrate the entertainment, food, and gambling icon’s 12th anniversary.

Boot stomping to bluegrass in a 1920’s boat house turned theater with Lake Tahoe in the background, kicking back at free concerts on a historic lakeshore estate’s grand lawn, and experiencing the Washoe tribe’s ceremonial dances and drumming are some of the many iconic experiences at Lake Tahoe’s Valhalla Arts, Music and Theatre Festival this July.

The comical, informative and uplifting performance of “The Vagina Monologues” will be returning to the stage in Carson City for 2014. This controversial play was written in 1996 by Eve Ensler; a playwright, feminist, activist, performer, and artivist.
