Good luck, Carson City. The options for this weekend are endless, but you can’t be everywhere at once. CASI’s annual Pooch Plunge at the Carson Aquatic Center is always a fun time for your furry friends. Red’s Old 395 welcomes back the THiNK PiNK kick-off to breast cancer awareness month. Downtown you’ll find the wine walk, a rummage sale at the Veterans Memorial Hall, and the Fall Vintage Market at Due Sorella. Toast the season at Fandango: Oktoberfest has returned. Keep reading and be prepared to make some hard choices.

Carson Tahoe celebrates 15 years of Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness campaign

Carson Tahoe Health’s 15th annual Think Pink breast cancer awareness campaign kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Red’s Old 395 Grill will once again host the event from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. in Carson City. The event is free to attend and individuals wearing a Carson Tahoe Think Pink T-shirt (any year) will receive free appetizers courtesy of Red’s.

Senator Square: Holiday craft fair this week, plus culinary teams up for Pie to the Rescue

The Carson High School Craft Fair coming this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20 and 21. Hundreds of crafters from all over Nevada and Northern California will fill both gymnasiums and halls of CHS. All money raised from the craft fair is donated to the various student clubs and organizations at CHS. Come support this annual tradition. Santa will also be on hand for photos.

Think Pink and Strut Your Mutt at the Carson Mall

This Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 bring your Mutt or yourself and walk laps around the Carson Mall. Get sponsors to donate a set amount per lap. (or sponsor yourself). Strut your laps, collect the donations and we will send them to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center.

Dress crazy dress pink, this is think pink month for breast cancer awareness. Event will go from 11am to 3pm. Walk any time during that time frame. The Humane Society will be here with pet adoptions. CASI will be here seeking donations for the animal shelter.

Carson Victory Rollers Breast Cancer Charity Scrimmage

The Carson Victory Rollers are holding their annual breast cancer awareness scrimmage, this year with a Halloween theme "Save the Boooo-bies"- Ghosts vs. Goblins.

$5 donation at the door with all proceeds going directly to local cancer foundations. Junior team skates at 5:00. Kids/Teens costume contest at 6:00. Adult scrimmage at 6:30.

Friday, October 2: Things to do in Carson City

It’s finally Friday with plenty of happenings to choose from. Start out with some coffee on Supervisor Bonokowski at the Cracker Box. Enjoy a free bbq lunch at Meek’s Lumber. Tea and cookies await at Browser’s Corner Book Shop to celebrate the Friends of the Carson Library’s Anniversary. Tickle your funny bone at first Fridays Improv at the Brewery Arts Center. Satisfy your craving for live music at Sassafras, Bella Fiore, or Living the Good Life. Let the theater feed your soul: Carson High School presents the Importance of Being Earnest at the Community Center.

The event is free to attend and individuals wearing a Carson Tahoe Think Pink T-shirt (any year) will receive free appetizers courtesy of Red’s, which is hosting the event.

Carson City Soroptimist Stroke to Help Golf Tournament September 26

Soroptimist International of Carson City is still signing up golfers for its 14th annual Stroke to Help golf tournament, coming up on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The tournament is a scramble format, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, at Eagle Valley Golf. Players can choose to play on either the East Course for the fun, or the West Course for the challenge.

Carson High's Future Health Professionals raise $350 for Carson Tahoe Cancer Foundation

Carson High School HOSA: Future Health Professionals, presented a check Tuesday to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Foundation. The club members raised and donated $350 to go toward breast cancer research/awareness by selling breast cancer awareness lanyards at $3 each in November.

Happy Friday, Carson City. Many people in our area have Facebook accounts, but not everyone, so I am pleased to bring you the event list that is featured on my Facebook page, I love Carson City.
Every week, as I have for the last two years, I follow the pages of local businesses and organizations, search website calendars, and compile a list of anything and everything going on in this community. Some of it is family friendly, some is just for adults, but all of it is nearby.

Carson football action: Senators top Damonte in nail-biter

The Senators football team of Carson High School took on the Mustangs of Damonte Ranch High School under the Friday night southeast Reno lights.

This week's match up was the opening of league play throughout the northern region and it was "Pink Night" for students and parents to celebrate the first game of October and breast cancer awareness. The game was incredibly close from the opening kick off to the final whistle. In the end Carson was victorious.

Senator Square: Carson City Chamber to hold golf fundraiser for CHS

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce is holding the 5th Annual Chairman’s Scramble Golf Tournament on September 26 at Silver Oak Golf Course. All proceeds to benefit Carson High Culinary Pro Start and SkillsUSA organizations. The event has a 12:30 PM shotgun start and costs $25 per person. You must RSVP by calling 882-1565.

Annual Cancer Run, Sponsored by the Sierra Nevada Association of REALTORS® and PrimeLending, Raises $8,000

The 5th Annual Cancer Sucks 5k held last month and presented by The Sierra Nevada Association of REALTORS® and PrimeLending was a huge success! The event brought out over 320 walkers and runners, many adorned in the color pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month. The proceeds from the event totaled close to $8,000 and will benefit local cancer patients through The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation.

Record number pink t-shirt participants packed Old Red's patios to support Carson Tahoe Cancer Resource Center's 12th annual THiNK PiNK campaign. Thank you Red’s Old 395 for hosting the event and everyone who participated, donated time, and resources, to help kickoff Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

All proceeds from the THiNK PiNK raffle, bar, and t-shirt sales go to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Resource Center for cancer education and support.

A Carson City High School senior says she raised about $300 this past weekend for breast cancer awareness. Abby Lafoon's event, ‘A Step Toward a Cure' was held Saturday at her school.

Soroptimist Stroke to Help needs golfers, sponsors, donations

Soroptimist International of Carson City seeks golfers, tee or green sponsors, and raffle prize donations for their 11th annual Stroke to Help Golf Tournament. The tournament is Saturday, September 29, at Eagle Valley Golf Course. Golfers may choose to play either the duffer-friendly East Course or the challenging links-style West Course. Play on both courses will be a 9 a.m. Shotgun start, with a Scramble format. Cost is $85 per player, and includes a Continental Breakfast, greens fee and cart, tee prizes, and a Barbecue lunch afterwards.

ThiNK PiNK to turn capitol pink for breast cancer awareness

Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare is working with Carson City to turn the region pink for breast cancer awareness. This is the 9th year of ThiNK PiNK. We will be lighting up the capital grounds with pink lights to bring awareness to breast cancer.
