Holy Tuesday, Batman! Today is jam-packed full of options around our valley. A walk with Parks and Rec, a movie viewing with the Classic Cinema Club, and life-sized board games at the Library are all on the docket for today. The big story, of course, is National Night Out with the Carson City Sheriff's Department. Free food, activities, fun, and even an aircraft or two descend on Mills Park for the annual party.

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to be teaming up with local dining favorites, The Cracker Box in Carson City and Js’ Old Town Bistro in Dayton, for a day of support for local cancer patients in need, and to kick off HopeFest6, a rockin’ benefit concert to be held the following week at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center.

I can understand if your plans for the weekend include sitting half-naked in front of a swamp cooler with an icy beverage. It has been quite roasty these last few days. An 18-year-old Reno woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, a felony, and misdemeanor minor consuming. An 18-year-old Dayton man was also arrested on suspicion of minor consuming.

Like the building she and her husband own together, Robin Shriver's new business at 210 South Carson Street downtown is a collection of diverse tastes.

It is the eleventh day of the seventh month and that means free slurpee day at 7-Eleven. There are few better ways to celebrate a sunny, summer day than with a cold, slushy beverage. The members of the High Desert Swing Dance Club get together on Monday at El Charro Avita to dance the night away.

The fireworks went off in Carson City last night without a hitch, bringing the end of another incredible weekend. Learn some swing dance moves at El Charro Avita or go for a walk with the Parks and Recreation Department. Singer-songwriter, Canyon White, entertains at Living the Good Life. For those with a skewed sense of humor: Mystery Science Theater 3000 makes an appearance at Galaxy Theater tonight.

Two women were arrested on suspicion of felony possession with intent to sell after officers recovered marijuana, paraphernalia, cash and a firearm following a traffic stop that led to a property search, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Three days of thrill-seeking, mountain biking adventure and plenty of capital city hospitality and entertainment will kick off the inaugural Carson City Off-Road Epic Ride series beginning Friday and lasting through the weekend.

The Dayton Valley Days Committee invites crafters, vendors and anyone who wants to reach thousands of people to reserve a booth for the 28th annual street festival held in the heart of historic Old Town Dayton.

It is primary election day in Nevada. For Carsonites who didn't vote early, you can choose to vote at the Community Center or at the County Clerk's office, regardless of precinct. Join the Nevada National Guard at the Capitol for their Flag Day ceremony and celebration of the Army’s birthday. Mile High Jazz Band has something special in store. It's going to be toasty today. Luckily, weekly Parks and Rec 'Easy Walk' starts at 8 a.m., so you'll be off the trail before the sun gets too far overhead. The Brewery Arts Center hosts the Carson City Classic Cinema Club the first Tuesday of each month; join them this evening for trivia and a showing of John Wayne's 'Stagecoach.' Dance the night away to the sounds of big band or cowboys: swing dance lessons are at El Charro Avita, while country line dancing can be found in the Eleventh Frame Lounge at Carson Lanes.

TUESDAY: Bike to Work Week

Not going to lie, I'm a lover of June. Not only is it unequivocally summer, it is also my birthday month. So today we say a fond farewell to May and the bizarre winter/spring/winter/summer weather that came with it. Early voting for the primary is underway at the Clerk's office in the Courthouse. Get out and explore the history of the west side of town with the Parks and Recreation easy walk. Head out to the archery range and learn to shoot a bow. Swing dance, line dance, and fire dancing are all out there for you to explore.

It’s a big day for the stage in Carson City. Under the lights of the Performance Hall at the Brewery Art Center, the four primary candidates for Carson City Mayor and for State Assembly District 40 will participate in a forum hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. Get to know the people you will see on the June Ballot. At the Bob Boldrick Theater, the Carson High Musical Theater Ensemble will perform for their last time this school year. If you’d like to overcome your inhibitions about public speaking or just improve your skills: the Toastmasters may be the group for you.

A new exhibit has hit town. Over the weekend, the Nevada Artists Association welcomed new works for its Imagination show. A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Sunday after allegedly fighting, throwing rocks and breaking a window at a bar in the 300 block of East William Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
