The Fourth of July will be colored with parades, barbecues, carnivals, concerts and plenty of fireworks around Carson City, Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe and Virginia City.

The live auction at the Concert Under the Stars, a benefit for The Greenhouse Project, is anticipated each year and has grown to include an even greater array of experience packages and service items.

Now in its 11th year, the Concert Under the Stars begins 5:30 p.m. July 10 at the Eagle Valley Golf Course, 3999 Centennial Park Dr. in Carson City. The evening includes world-class and legendary music by Poco, Pure Prairie League and Firefall — as well as the live auction which takes place between performances.

To get your holiday weekend started, on July 4th at 9:30 a.m. the Fifes and Drums of Nevada, along with the Battle Born Patriots Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution will be playing music from colonial times, as well as presenting a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.

With a windy cool down headed our way, activities around the Carson City area Wednesday, June 26 will make for a breezy good time. Looking at the day ahead there's a walk hosted by parks and recreation, kids events, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center, a free "rough cut" feature film screening at the Carson Nugget, Young Chautauquans at Dangberg Historic Park and more.

Heading into the weekend, there's a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

Heading into Wednesday, June 12, 2019 means we are half way through the work week. Temperatures will be around the 90 mark with a chance of afternoon showers. Activities lined up include art classes, a hike designed for tots through Carson City Parks and Recreation, a Ninja aerobic class at Yaple's Ballroom and you can hear local author CW Bayer talk about three of his books on area history at Browsers Corner Book Store. Hello Carson City as we head into Thursday, June 6, 2019. Activities, art and entertainment abound as we get closer to the weekend. There's the kickoff of two main events, the Nevada State Fair at Mills Park and the Spring Street Vibrations at Battle Born Harley-Davidson. There's also a morning hike, art showings, an end of school year celebration with live music at Living the Good Life, and the Thursday night Cruise that begins at Vino's Pizza. Read on for more.

Is it the middle of the work week already? That's what a 3-day holiday weekend brings. Heading into Wednesday, May 29, 2019, there's a number of events around the Carson City region lined up, including Salsa dancing classes at Yaple's Ballroom, a live music show at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City (hosted by the Canvas Cafe) and a live jazz jam at Living the Good Life in Carson City.

Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 is proudly hosting the first Charity Poker Run on Saturday, June 22, 2019. All proceeds benefit local veteran charities. The poker run is open to motorcycles and cars older than 1970.

Pre-Registration will be held at the Elks Lodge located at 515 N. Nevada St. from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Day of Event registration will be from 9 to 11 a.m. There will be a Bloody Martha Bar available for adult beverages.

Entry is only $25 per driver and $10 per passenger for either a bike or car. Registration includes breakfast at the Lodge.

Heading into the middle of the work week, Wednesday, May 22, there's no short supply of places to go and things to do around Carson City. CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak has issued a proclamation declaring the second week of May as Travel and Tourism Week in the state. The proclamation, issued on May 3, comes as part of a broader national celebration of the travel and tourism industries in the United States.

Annette Magnus, Executive Director of Battle Born Progress, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. A Political Science graduate of UNLV, Magnus has become a familiar face throughout the state as an outspoken advocate for progressive causes.

She has also served as Co-Chair of the Nevada Women's Lobby, a board member of Emerge Nevada, and Public Affairs Manager at Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada.

The Nevada Builders Association will host a “First Nail Ceremony” and give tours of the forthcoming and re-named Bank Saloon, formerly Jack's Bar, in downtown Carson City next month.
