Here we find ourselves heading into Monday, March 4, 2019. Hark, is there sunshine ahead? Well, yes is the short answer. The longer one is explained by the National Weather Service, which says we are in between weather systems. Take advantage of Monday's sunny weather after the fog lifts and get out for a walk or bike ride. Changes are expected later Tuesday.

Drizzly, dreary, cool weather that has made its mark on the Carson City area so far this month may only seem like bad tidings approaching the Ides of March. But I think Leprechuans would agree: The wetter the weather, the brighter the rainbow.

This weekend calls for a celebration, because the first Saturday of March is upon us and that means the Carson City Downtown Business Association Wine Walk come rain, snow, wind or shine. And get this: Today's Wine Walk is the last one before Spring.

Not only is Friday the first day of March in this 2019 calendar year but it is also the end of the work week. And for this we say welcome to a month that brings us the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, which is this Saturday, NCAA basketball playoffs, St. Patrick's Day celebrations and the first day of spring. The hills around the Nevada state capital are alive with the sound of music and nature as the Carson City Symphony performs its 200th concert Sunday at the newly renovated Bob Boldrick Theater.

The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) presents its exhibition, "The Felt Works," by artist Svea Ferguson at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery.

CCAI will host an opening reception on Friday, February 8 from 5-7 p.m.; the artist will give a brief talk about her work at 5:30 p.m. The exhibition will be in the gallery from February 8–May 03, 2019.

Carson City School District has got to be one of the best places on earth to work, this coming from someone who has been here for 18 years. Christmas is getting closer, and in Carson City, that means holiday trains. From the V&T Railway's Polar Express to the Nevada State Railroad Museum's Santa Train, rails around the state capital are busy delivering Saint Nicholas to children and spreading Christmas cheer.
