The Capital City Arts Initiative is presenting an “ART from WNC” exhibition starting Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the Community Development Building — “The Brick” — 108 E Proctor Street in Carson City.

Twenty-one student artists from Western Nevada College are represented in the exhibit that is open to the public at no cost from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 1 through March 30.

ART from WNC includes a cache of creativity, including graphic design, drawing, photography and book art pieces that show the diversity of the students’ imagination.

Winter, Wine and Jazz 2016: Oscar-themed, red carpet night to benefit Brewery Arts Center

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975 will bring to Carson City Winter Wine, Spirits and All That Jazz, an evening of wine, beer and spirit tasting, featuring the very best in art, music and entertainment that the area has to offer happening for the second year all over the campus of the Brewery Arts Center.

The support, enjoyment and participation in Wine and Art events is growing in Carson City.

It is evident with the opening of two new businesses that offer social gathering art classes and the enjoyment of adult libations, music and tasty tidbits. Both of these creative businesses have opened within two weeks of each other.

Chamber of Commerce unveils local artist, St. Clair's metal sculpture

A local metal artist, Robbie St. Clair unveiled his six-foot metal sculpture of two mustangs rearing. The Carson City Chamber commissioned St. Clair to create the piece of uniquely Nevada art.

Continuing in the vein of placing public art in public places such as that placed along the I-580 corridor as part of the freeway construction, St. Clair’s mustang sculpture was unveiled and dedicated Saturday.
St. Clair began to pursue metal 10 years ago when he found himself wanting to create art that was tangible. He began to construct signs and started taking art classes.

Silver City Plans a Summer Full of Family Fun

The Silver City Community Partners, formerly known as the Silver City Task Force, has announced a full summer schedule of community events and programs. The tightknit community of Silver City works together to offer a free summer youth program, monthly community dinners, cultural events, a volunteer library, cooking lessons, and a community garden.
