Through the week ending Nov. 21, there have been a total of 768,159 initial claims filed in 2020, 746,507 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is initiating a public comment period on the proposed Forest-Wide Prescribed Fire Restoration Project. In response to the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Program has allocated the Nevada Non-Entitlement CDBG Program through the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development the amount of $283,213 to Carson City. From the $283,213, $70,426 has not been funded. This notice is to fund the remaining $70,426.

CARSON CITY — Gov. Steve Sisolak, the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office and the Governor’s Office of Economic of Development announced Wednesday an additional infusion of $20 million in to the Pandemic Emergency Technical Support (PETS) grant program, which opened for applicants on Monday.

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce it will offer free COVID-19 testing for all school employees in two drive-thru events. Information about the dates, times and location have already been provided to employees from school administrators. After the drive-thru events, school employees who become symptomatic at work may be tested by one of the school nurses.

The Carson Nugget will be hosting a job fair this Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. to fill positions in full time and part time capacities and for all shifts. All levels of experience are invited to attend the event which takes place in the events area on the second floor of the casino on N. Carson Street.

According to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR), initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 8,964 for the week ending October 10, up 1,023 claims, or 12.9 percent, compared to last week’s total of 7,941 claims.

Through the week ending October 10, there have been 719,311 initial claims filed in 2020, 697,659 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.
