The Shoe Tree Brewing Company will host its Second Anniversary Party on Saturday, June 15 from noon to 10 p.m. at 1496 Old Hot Springs Rd. in Carson City.

Heading into Father’s Day weekend, there's plenty of jam-packed activities around the Carson City region. There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

It has been a busy and productive year for Carson City Chamber Chairman of the Board Bob Fredlund. He’s a full-time top selling realtor for Coldwell Banker Select in Carson City and a builder of homes at Santa Maria Ranch in Dayton. His construction company also remodels homes, right now most notably the home of Carson City founder Abe Curry.

Hello Carson City. It is Thursday, June 13, 2019. After last night's thunderstorms that shook around the capital city we're looking at plenty of sunshine today with a daytime high around 86. Activities lined up include workshops, an anniversary party and showing at Artsy Fartsy art gallery, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Kiwanis Club meeting and Chamber annual meeting at The Martin Hotel, Cruise Night at Bully's Sports Bar, live music outdoors at Living the Good Life and more. Carson City Kiwanis moved its weekly meeting to The Martin Hotel. The decision to move was not a difficult one as The Martin Inn has an excellent meeting facility located in the back of its restaurant.

Carson City Kiwanis members are excited about the move as the room is large enough to grow, invite guests, and be able to stay in downtown Carson City. As Carson City Kiwanis celebrates its 60-year anniversary, it looks to continue to be a great service club in this great community.

More than 300 Special Olympics athletes from across the state will converge this weekend in Reno for the annual Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) Summer Games. The torch was carried through Carson City Friday on its way to the games.

Kicking off its 2019 season, V&T Railway will hold a special Mother’s Day train on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12. CARSON CITY — The completion of the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869 changed America in myriad ways, not the least of which was the ability to traverse the country in days rather than weeks or months by wagon or ship.

To celebrate Carson City’s 25th anniversary of becoming a Tree City USA, Carson City Parks and Recreation with and the Before and After School Program planted new trees in Mills Park on Arbor Day.

Kids from the program, as well as the public, were treated to an education lesson following the planting about the importance of trees, and Mayor Bob Crowell wrote a proclamation for the event.

Along with Sexual Assault Awareness & Child Abuse Prevention Month recognized through April, Wednesday, April 24 is the 20th anniversary of Denim Day.

For 20 years, the organization Peace Over Violence has organized Denim Day, a rape prevention education campaign, during which community members, elected officials, businesses, and students are encouraged to make a social statement with their fashion choices on this day by wearing jeans as a visible means of protest against misconceptions that surround sexual assault.

University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is once again coordinating the collaborative efforts of federal, state and local fire services; public safety agencies; community organizations; and others to participate in Nevada Wildfire Awareness Month throughout May.

Carson City will mark its 25th year of being a Tree City USA member by hosting a tree planting ceremony at Mills Park on Friday, April 26.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space department welcomes all community members to celebrate with us as we plant a new tree in Mills Park and read Mayor Bob Crowell's proclamation. The event runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
