Public review Friday for South Carson roundabout design

In February the design plans for the South Carson Complete Streets Project reached 60 percent completion. Current design elements include safe accommodations for travel, one of which is a roundabout at the intersection of Stewart Street and South Carson Street.

Carson City emergency crews respond to separate vehicle crashes within minutes

The Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and NHP were called Wednesday afternoon to the area of Highway 50 East and Frontier Drive for a crash involving two vehicles. Minutes later another crash was reported in the area of Roop and Hot Springs.

NHP: One northbound I-580 lane opened near Bowers Mansion after fatal Galena Bridge crash

UPDATE 8:40PM: The Nevada Highway Patrol reports one lane of northbound I-580 is now open north of the Bowers Mansion exit. Traffic is moving slowly past the scene of the fatal crash. NHP urges motorists to watch for first responders and drive with extreme caution.

UPDATE 8:06PM: Nevada Highway Patrol troopers remain on scene Thursday night at the fatal crash on the Galena Bridge. There are approximately 10-15 vehicles involved with one confirmed fatality. There is not an estimated time for reopening northbound I-580. NHP advises motorists to use alternate routes.

Northbound Interstate 580 at mile marker 12 in Washoe County near the Galena Bridge is closed Thursday night due to a fatal crash at the Bowers Mansion exit, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

Carson City emergency crews respond to multiple accidents on U.S. Highway 50 East

Carson City firefighter-paramedics and Sheriff's deputies are responding to two motor vehicle accidents within a half-mile of each other on U.S. Highway 50 East.

One, a two-vehicle crash, was located at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Airport Road. The vehicles involved have since been moved into the Dollar General parking lot.

A second two-vehicle accident, a collision, is located at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Fairview Drive.

Two victims are complaining of chest pain and difficulty breathing. Another is complaining of possible broken bones.

NV Energy says recent rash of Carson City area power outages not connected, caused by various factors

Update: According to NV Energy, the Silver Saddle Ranch downed line was caused by an equipment failure, which caused the line to fall. The Damonte Ranch power outage was caused by a bird. There is still no information about the cause of Wednesday morning's outage.

In recent weeks, power outages and downed lines have consistently popped up more and more throughout Carson City, Lyon County, Reno and Sparks. However, NV Energy said none of the outages are connected.
