NHP identifies Carson City man who died in Friday motorcycle accident

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the driver of the motorcycle who died at the scene of a three vehicle accident in Carson CIty on Friday night.

James Kevin Montez, 37, of Carson City was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an NHP press statement. The condition of two people, flown by air ambulance to Renown Medical Center, is reportedly that they suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A Dayton man has been identified as the driver of a fatal accident that happened on Friday on Highway 50 in Mound House near the Carson City and Lyon County line.

Steven Milnor Gonzales, 62, died Friday from injuries sustained from the accident after being flown by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Man faces charges after confrontation with Carson City officers at accident scene

A 28-year-old Louisiana man was arrested and faces multiple misdemeanor charges after causing a disturbance while officers tried to aid victims of Saturday's injury accident that sent three to a Reno trauma center by air ambulance.

Three air ambulances needed after Carson City accident on Silver Oak Drive

A two-vehicle accident reported at about 2:15 this afternoon required three air ambulances to transport three patients, one of them a pregnant woman, witnesses, paramedics and Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi confirmed.

CalStar and CareFlight helicopters were dispatched to the head-on crash site and transported three patients to Renown Medical Center in Reno, according to scanner traffic between Carson City dispatch and emergency crews on scene. The accident was reported at 777 Sliver Oak Drive, a residential neighborhood.

One dead in Highway 50 accident near Carson City and Lyon County line

A man died early this evening after a head-on vehicle accident on Highway 50 in Mound House near Carson City, the Nevada Highway Patrol confirmed.

Two men were flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno, with one of the victims dying at the hospital, said NHP Sgt. Eddie Bowers. The accident happened at 4:15 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle who is believed to be the one who caused the accident, is the man who died, Bowers said. The second victim was reportedly conscious and alert at the hospital, he added.

Silver City man died of injuries resulting from Mound House accident on Highway 50

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the man who died in a two-vehicle accident on Wednesday on Highway 50 in Mound House.
Thomas G. Froysa, 66, of Silver City, died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the automobile accident, according to the coroner's office of the Washoe County Medical Examiner, who performed an autopsy this morning.

Care Flight responds after accident tonight at Highway 50 and Empire Ranch in Carson City

One person who may have suffered life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle accident tonight at Highway 50 and Empire Ranch is being transported by Care Flight air ambulance.

The accident, which happened at about 8:30 tonight, was reportedly a t-bone collision. One person may have suffered neck injuries. The other driver reportedly declined medical attention, according to dispatchers.

Lyon County man dies in accident on Highway 50 at Mound House east of Carson City

A vehicle accident this morning at Mound House east of Carson City took the life of a 66-year-old Lyon County man, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports this afternoon.

The accident happened shortly before 10 this morning in the area of Highway 50 and Mound House east of Highland Drive in Lyon County.

According to NHP Trooper Chuck Allen, a gray 1989 Chevrolet 4-door sedan was traveling eastbound on the four-lane highway at a very high rate of speed in an area where the speed zone was 45 mph.

Motorcyclist killed, wife injured in Churchill County accident

A Battle Mountain man died on Sunday morning after he crashed his motorcycle in Eastern Churchill County, the Nevada High Patrol reports.
Michael A. Jurad, 66, died of his injuries. Jurad's wife, Mary L. Jurad, who was a passenger, was flown to Reno and is listed in serious condition this morning at Renown Regional Medical Center, NHP reports.
The accident was reported at 9:46 a.m. Sunday on State Route 722 near mile marker 15 in eastern Churchill County, a mile west of Carroll Summit.

Carson City man admits abusing toddler; faces felony child abuse charge

A 23-year-old Carson City man faces a felony child abuse and a gross domestic battery charge after admitting to abusing a 20-month-old toddler.
David Phillip Gawdun, who lives in the 1700 block of Russell Way, is being held on $43,132 bond in the Carson City Jail after he was arrested on Saturday. In an interview, he has admitted to slapping the girl and other instances of child abuse on the toddler and the girl's 3-year-old brother.

Two Care Flight choppers summoned to Carson City Airport after a reported accident

Two Care Flight helicopters were summoned to the Carson City Airport this afternoon on two separate medical events including a car accident involving a child.

The car accident in the Northgate Lane area of Carson City was reported at 1:37 this afternoon. In a separate call, at 1:38, an air ambulance was needed for an overdose patient, Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

Reports are that a 10-year-old girl was injured in the car accident, Furlong said. The extent of the child's injuries are unknown, Furlong added.

Woman faces felony charges in July 21 crash near Dayton

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports today that it has booked a 21-year-old woman on charges related to a July 21 head-on accident on Highway 50 west of Dayton.
Occupants of both vehicles were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident. The occupants of the Dodge van were all discharged from Renown, the NHP reports.

Motorcycle accident near Carson City on Highway 50 at Spooner shuts down traffic

Highway 50 on Spooner near Carson City is being closed in both directions this afternoon after a motorcycle accident in the west bound lane.
The accident was reported at around 4:30 this afternoon. Carson City and Douglas County emergency crews and the Nevada Highway Patrol are responding and Care Flight is preparing to land.
The accident is about 1.5 miles up Spooner Summit from Carson City in the westbound lane.
Initial reports called in by motorists to dispatch was that the motorcycle crashed and the rider was laying in the middle of the road.

Former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn, who guided Nevada from January 1999 through the end of his second term in 2006, died this morning of a heart attack in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Carson City School District president 'amazed' marijuana charge dropped against principal

At least one Carson City School District official is troubled by the outcome of Friday's misdemeanor driving under the influence guilty plea by Carson Middle School Principal Sam Santillo.
School board trustee president Norm Scoggin said he's "amazed" that a misdemeanor charge of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana was dropped by the Washoe County District Attorney's Office.

Carson City woman hit by car, flown to Renown Medical Center

A Carson City woman was hit by a car tonight in the 1500 block of 5th Street and was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
The woman was transported from the accident scene to Carson High School where Care Flight picked her up. Her condition appeared to be serious. The accident was reported at 7:22 p.m. Care Flight arrived within minutes after being requested by medics on-scene.

Fallon man identified in fatal accident

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified Claude Brown, 57, of Fallon, as the man who died in the two-vehicle accident that happened Tuesday morning on Highway 50, eight miles east of Fallon.
The driver of the silver Toyota Highlander, Sidney Ellen Imeson, 50, was transported via ground ambulance from Banner Churchill Community Hospital to Renown Regional Medical Center where she is currently listed in fair condition, according to the NHP.
Alcohol did not play a part in accident and investigators are looking into whether fatigue was a factor.

Update: NHP Investigates fatal accident east of Fallon

The Nevada Highway Patrol sent this update on the fatal accident this morning involving two vehicles near Fallon. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members.

"This morning, at approximately 7:05 a.m., troopers from the NHP-Fallon District were dispatched to an automobile accident on Highway 50 near mile marker 32, approximately 8 miles east of Fallon.

One person is dead after an accident this morning eight miles east of Fallon on Highway 50.
A male driver was killed in the two-vehicle accident and a female sustained injuries and was transported to Bannar Churchill Memorial Hospital, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Her condition is unknown at this time. Eastbound traffic was closed temporarily because of the accident, which was reported shortly after 7 this morning.

Vehicle accident at Carson City intersection sends two to hospital

A small truck and car collided this morning at the intersection of Saliman and Fifth in Carson City. Two people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The accident was reported shortly before 9 this morning. Both vehicles hit head-on and suffered heavy damage. 

NHP: Driver killed in road racing event on Saturday in Storey County

A 37-year-old Las Vegas man was killed in a road racing accident in Storey County on Saturday. 
Alexander Djordjevic died at the scene after he lost control of his Porsche 911 during a sanctioned road racing event north of the Storey and Lyon county lines, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The 5.2-mile stretch of the two-lane highway had been closed to the public for two days between 8 a.m and 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday to facilitate a sanctioned road racing event, according to an NHP press statement.

News Release: Carson City agencies participate in mass fatality exercise

A fire chief, emergency manager; the sheriff; the coroner; a funeral director; the hospital security manager; a sheriff’s chief deputy and a captain, the health director and other health department officials met on Wednesday to assess the community’s ability to handle a critical incident causing numerous deaths.

Incidents resulting in fatalities that exceed the normal operating capacity of the Coroner’s Office are considered mass fatality and would trigger the activation of the Mass Fatality Management Plan.

Firefighters knock down two homes on fire in Carson City neighborhood; dogs rescued

Update: 5:11 p.m.: A fire truck reportedly had some damage from an accident that happened during the initial call. No injuries reported. Remaining fire units will continue to clean up hot spots around the fires and will probably be there for another 30 minutes. Fire investigators are now trying to determine what caused the fire that ignited two homes this afternoon.

Two motorcycle accidents involving vehicles have happened tonight within the past two hours in Carson City, sending two to the hospital by helicopter ambulance.

NHP IDs two who died in accident on Highway 50 near Carson City

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified two people who died this morning in a three-car accident on Highway 50 three miles east of Carson City.

Isolde Ann Taysom, 51, of Dayton and Scott W. Lamonda, 46, of Yerington died at the scene of the accident, reported at 6:36 a.m. in Mound House, according to the NHP.
