Today, WNC's Veterans Resource Center is providing an opportunity for individuals to reflect on the events of Sept. 11, 2001. Each flight of stairs in the Carson City campus's Cedar Building includes photos, exhibits and a list of those who lost their lives in the Pentagon, the flights and the Twin Towers on this tragic day, 18 years ago.

Fly Tying Academy

The Carson Fly Fishing Club is offering a beginning Fly Tying Academy on April 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, and 25, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the Airport Terminal Building – 2600 College Parkway, Carson City.

The purpose of the class is to learn basic techniques of tying different flies, no experience necessary. The flies for this class will be Wooly Worm, Chamois Nymph, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Little Yellow Stone Fly, Adams and Zonker. This will be the 19th year that the Carson Fly Fishing Club has presented this class free to the public. Class size is limited.

So, when she marked herself safe on Facebook from the mass shooting at the First Baptist Church, my heart dropped into my stomach. I called her and she relayed who she knew who had been shot.
