Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Nov. 30 through Dec. 6, 2020. Closures are expected at the following locations due to road and utility work:

Carson City Health and Human Services reported Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020 that there are 342 new cases and 84 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 4,656, with 2,303 recoveries and 33 deaths; 2,320 cases remain active.

CARSON CITY — The Silver State added back 3,600 jobs, or 0.3 percent since September 2020. When compared to October 2019, jobs are still down by 117,200, or -8.2 percent, for a current total of 1,305,300 jobs, according to a the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s October 2020 economic report.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Virginia City will kick off its Candy Cane Express and Train of Lights on Friday with all day train rides. Small Business Saturday will begin in downtown Carson City with COVID-19 restrictions put in place. I am writing today to vehemently oppose the removal of flashing lights on the highway that inform drivers a light is about to change.

The general consensus of our community with whom I've spoken to seem to agree that this would be a disaster.

CARSON CITY — Given the devastating 2020 wildfire season across the west, and following two late-season wildfires that recently swept across the Sierra Front, the Nevada Division of Forestry announced Wednesday that it will convene a free virtual summit to help Nevadans prepare and protect their homes, families, and communities from wildland fires.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020 that there are 161 new cases and no additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 4,314, with 2,062 recoveries and 33 deaths; 2,062 cases remain active.

Carson City and Carson Valley gaming revenue was up in October by nearly 2 percent compared to October 2019, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020 that there has been a significant increase in positive cases over the last week. Since Nov. 16, 2020, CCHHS has received over 1,000 positive results for the Quad-County region. Due to the high volume of cases, not all positive cases have been contacted. CCHHS is working to investigate the cases and reduce the back log in positive results.

While Carson City may be on a pause, residents and visitors are encouraged to safely support small businesses, every day not just on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28. As of today, retailers must adhere to the 50 percent capacity limits, alternatively, many businesses use online marketplace platforms, which may be more convenient. The COVID – 19 impact left many small businesses reliant on online platforms to maintain sales.

Speeding is a leading contributor to traffic crashes. Speeding during winter weather driving conditions just makes your chances of a crash greater.

Two were arrested for multiple offenses early Saturday following a fight near a Carson City bar, a sheriff's booking report states.

On Tuesday morning during a virtual meeting of the Nevada Supreme Court, the canvass of votes was signed and certified. Joe Biden was officially delegated the winner in Nevada's 2020 General Election for the Office of President.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of its patrons, the Carson City Library will temporarily close starting Nov. 24, 2020, in response to the Governor’s statewide three-week pause and the elevated COVID-19 concerns especially for persons at risk.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020. The individual was a Carson City resident. CCHHS is also reporting 35 new cases and 36 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 2,993, with 2,219 recoveries and 33 deaths; 741 cases remain active.

While The COVID-19 pandemic has created many difficulties for small business owners in Northern Nevada, the Wells Fargo/Gallup Small Business Index survey in June revealed that 76% Hispanic business owners view the future as brighter than one might think even despite these difficulties. 63% said their financial situation over that same timeframe would be somewhat or very good, and 74% said that would apply 12 months from now.

Two were arrested early Friday for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop, a Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report states.

The Carson City School District’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce nine student winners of the 19th Annual American Citizen Essay Contest. A multi-agency law enforcement investigation led authorities to approximately 446 grams of methamphetamine, multiple stolen firearms and other stolen property after a search warrant was executed at a Dayton residence earlier this month, according to the Nevada Department of Public Safety.

For the week ending November 14, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 7,243, down 313 claims, or 4.1 percent, compared to last week’s total of 7,556 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR). Through the week ending November 14, there have been 760,038 initial claims filed in 2020, 738,386 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.
