Carson City man accused of false imprisonment, felony assault after stabbing car with knife

A 42-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night for suspicion of felony false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon and property destruction after allegedly stabbing a vehicle and then escaping into a residence where a woman had lived.

Lee Faron Ross was taken into custody at 8:51 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Carson Street following an investigation into reports that he stabbed and punctured the door of a Nissan with a knife and then entered a motel room.

According to the arrest report, dispatch was called to the area after a reporting party advised he was driving the Nissan through the motel complex when an unknown man, described a having a large build with a red hat, stabbed the vehicle with a knife while he was inside the vehicle.

Officers were advised by the owner that they saw the suspect, along with another male, described a wearing a bandana and face mask, go into a room and that it was captured on video. Deputies went to the suspected room and knocked several times, announcing themselves as law enforcement. After knocking on the door several times, the door opened from the force of a knock, where an officer observed a large knife inside the residence.

An office called into the residence identifying themselves as law enforcement. Deputies heard the faint sound of a woman's voice come from inside the apartment. Since the door to the residence swung inward, the officer looked through the crack between the door and doorframe and observed a male sitting in a chair, with a large knife in immediate proximity of the male subject.

The officer entered the room and detained the subject who was sitting in the chair. A deputy observed a man and woman on a bed inside the residence. The man was identified as the suspect, Lee Faron Ross. Ross was later positively identified by the reporting party as the one who stabbed and caused damage to his vehicle.

The woman was interviewed and informed deputies that she had heard a loud commotion outside of her room so she opened her door and said Ross approached her and asked if he could hang out inside of her room with his friend. She advised she was scared of Ross so she let him and his friend inside, the report states.

The woman said she did not know Ross's friend, but did know Ross for around six month. She advised Ross placed a large knife on the side table and asked to stay. The woman told Ross she couldn't have anyone over. Then advised deputies that she could hear loud knocking on the door. She said Ross told her to lay down in the bed, be quiet and not move. The woman said she was scared and did not know what was going to happen if law enforcement did not enter when they did, the arrest report states.

Deputies collected evidence, including the knife, video footage, which clearly showed Ross stabbing the vehicle at least twice, and the reporting party's statement that he thought Ross was going to kill him with the knife while he was in the vehicle.

Ross was arrested for suspicion of felony false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon and gross misdemeanor destruction of property. Bail: $62,000.
