Carson City deputies make arrests for protection order violation, multiple DUIs

A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday for misdemeanor violation of a protection order.
According to an arrest report, deputies responded late Sunday evening to a West Nye Lane apartment for a report of a man and woman arguing, yelling and screaming and a woman crying.

A deputy arrived and made contact with the man who stated he wasn't arguing but that he was talking to someone loudly on the phone. A woman at the residence stated she came home from work and argued with the man because he was consuming alcohol. The woman stated the argument never turned physical. There were no signs of physical injury, the report states.

Both male and female subjects were checked through dispatch. The man had a protection order issued August 12, out of El Dorado, Calif. During the initial explanation of the protection order the officer was advised the two could have peaceful contact. The man and woman both agreed to keep the peace, the report states.

At 12:18 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the same location for a report domestic battery. The anonymous reporting party stated they could hear yelling and a female crying. Deputies made contact with the subjects again.

The couple stated they were not arguing. Deputies did not see any visible injuries on either of them and was unable to determine if a battery took place. The male stated two two are living together. Dispatch advised they checked with El Dorado County records to confirm the protection order was valid. El Dorado County advised it was and the man was arrested for violation of the protection order. Bail: $3,000.

In other arrests:
— A Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 7:19 p.m. in the area of Fifth and Fairview for suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain a lane. According to the arrest report deputies were called to an accident in the roundabout. Deputies arrived and found a sedan resting on large landscape boulders in the middle of the roundabout. The vehicle failed to maintain its lane while traveling northbound on Fairview, the report states.

Deputies made contact with man standing outside the vehicle. He had an abrasion to his right cheek area, had red watery eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol on his breath. The man admitted to consuming two or three beers earlier in the evening. He stated his girlfriend was driving but fled the scene prior to the deputies arriving.
Deputies spoke with two witnesses who stated the man exited the driver seat and no one was was inside the vehicle.

The man refused to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. He was read the request for voluntary evidence. He agreed to participate in a blood draw. He was taken to hospital for medical clearance and a phlebotomist drew blood from the man. He was medically cleared and taken to jail for suspicion DUI and failure to maintain a lane. Bail: $1,233.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 11:45 a.m. in the 2200 block of Loire Street for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $1,000.

— A 37-year-old Carson City man, Thomas Paul Meader, was arrested Sunday, 12:20 a.m. for suspicion of parole violation. According to the arrest report, the man was found to be in possession of two knives. One of the man's conditions of his parole was not to possess weapons. The man was detained so the sheriff's office could check with Parole and Probation. The man advised the knives found were "court approved." Dispatch then advised Nevada Parole and Probation, which in turn wanted the man arrested for possession of the weapons. He was taken into custody. He was held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 50-year-old Silver Springs man was arrested Saturday, 8:28 p.m. in the 1800 block of Fairview Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, headlamp not illuminated and driving without a valid driver's license.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was patrolling the area of East William and I-580. The deputy observed a sedan approach the ramp and that its right headlight was not illuminated. The deputy caught up to the vehicle as it was exiting the Fairview exit and initiated a traffic stop on Fairview.

The deputy made contact with the driver. The driver's side window did not roll down and the man opened the driver door. The officer could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. While speaking with the man the officer observed him slurring his words. He stated he had consumed alcohol earlier in the day. He agreed to standardized field sobriety tests, the report states.

While talking to the man the officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from his breath. The man showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .192. Dispatch advised the man was driving without a valid license. He was arrested. At jail he provided evidentiary breath samples. Bail: $1,441.

— A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 6:48 p.m. in the area of Fairview and Desatoya for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area for a report of a non-injury crash. Deputies were advised both vehicles were in a parking lot of a convenience store.

The officer spoke with the one of the drivers, the defendant, who advised the other driver was in his blind spot and he did not see it. The officer could smell an odor of alcohol on the defendant's breath. The man agreed to submit to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .128 and was arrested. At jail he provided evidentiary breath samples of .128 and .121.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 9:02 a.m. in the area of South Carson and Fairview for misdemeanor suspicion fo a second DUI, no insurance and careless driving. According to the arrest report, a deputy patrolling the area was at the intersection of Carson and Stewart streets and heard tires screeching and saw a Jeep turn southbound. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer observed the vehicle gain control, then straddled the number one and two travel lanes, swerving between the two lanes.

The officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle, and advised the driver the reason for the stop. The officer could smell a light odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the man and his speech was slurred. The officer asked the man if he had been drinking. The man replied he had a beer about an half hour prior. He further stated prior to the beer he had a cocktail and multiple beers.

He agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .221 and was arrested. He was read a request for voluntary evidence. The man stated "I refuse all matters." The officer applied for a seizure order that was granted. At jail he refused to allow for a blood draw and was uncooperative. He had to be held for a blood draw. He continued to be uncooperative. A records check showed a DUI conviction in 2017. Bail: $3,524.

On May 15th, 2024, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on the 600 block of Angela Street in Fernley, Nev., reference a caller who reported that he had murdered his mother. The caller additionally provided that he barricaded himself inside the house, was armed with a rifle, and had planted pipe bombs at the residence.

On a sunny Saturday morning, 100 volunteer participants fanned out across Lake Tahoe’s South Shore to take water quality samples from 34 streams, creeks, ponds, and lakes to monitor the health of the Truckee River watershed and Lake Tahoe as part of the 24th annual Snapshot Day. They were joined by teams doing the same tests simultaneously in other regions of the watershed.

Just before noon on Tuesday a crash with injuries was reported on the I-580 on ramp from N. Carson Street.

According to dispatch there are two vehicles involved, one of which was towing a trailer.

Injuries have been reported and the number two lane is blocked.

Traffic cameras show vehicles are moving slowly but are able to get through to Washoe Valley.

Motorists must use caution in the area.
