Lines in Carson City will keep polls open past 7 p.m. deadline
There are still hundreds of voters waiting to cast their ballots in Carson City as the polls officially close statewide at 7 p.m.
By state law, (NRS 293.305) if a person is in line by 7 p.m., they will be allowed to vote. While this morning had long lines, the afternoon petered down to a few dozen at a time. However, according to some voters in line, many chose to head to the polls after getting off of work this evening.
Voters leaving the polls at 7 p.m. stated they had stood in line for approximately an hour and a half in total.
The polls cannot close for the night until all voters in line have been given the chance to cast their votes.
We will update with information as it becomes available.
Carson Now will post results here as they come in via the Carson City Clerk-Recorder's Office.
