Carson City arrests: Man booked for suspicion of 3rd DUI, child endangerment

A Minden man was arrested Friday for suspicion of a felony third DUI and gross misdemeanor child endangerment, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Brian Maxey, 34, was taken into custody at Friday, 5:13 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Carson Street. According to the booking report, sheriff's deputies responded to a report of an intoxicated driver leaving a daycare with a child.
Upon arrival there was a vehicle blocking the driveway to keep the suspect's vehicle from leaving, according to the report.
A deputy parked next to the suspect vehicle and made contact with the driver, Brian Maxey. As he rolled down the window, the deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The officer observed a female passenger inside the vehicle and a female juvenile passenger in a car seat. The female passenger was the child's mother, according to the booking report.
The deputy instructed Maxey to put the vehicle into park and remove the keys from the ignition, which he did. The deputy had Maxey exit the vehicle, where he was unstable on his fee and leaned up against the vehicle.
The deputy asked for the man's driver's license which he said he did not have. In talking with Maxey the deputy observed the man was slurring his words as he spoke. The man was asked if he would submit to field sobriety tests. The man agreed and showed signs of impairment. The man refused to a preliminary breath test. He was booked for suspicion of third DUI and child endangerment. He submitted to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $22,637.
The Department Child and Family Services was also called because the mother (in the passenger seat) of the juvenile was intoxicated and had a preliminary breath test of .389, according to the arrest report.
In other arrests:
— A 37-year-old man was booked Saturday into Carson City Jail for two felony warrants alleging drug trafficking and conspiracy to violation the Controlled Substance Act, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.
Ramon Ruiz-Segura, of Cottonwood, Calif. was booked on the warrants issued in March 2016. One warrant was issued out of Carson City Justice Court. There was also a FBI case number. The warrant for one charge of trafficking a controlled substances (28 grams or more) and one charge of Conspiracy to Violate the Uniform Controlled Substance Act. Bail: $500,000 cash.
— A 42-year-old man, Willie Hoffman, was arrested Sunday for a felony fugitive from justice warrant issued out of Alpine County Superior Court. No bail hold, awaiting extradition.
— A 24-year-old Dayton man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and failure to maintain a lane.
According to the booking report at approximately 5:42 a.m. a deputy was traveling westbound on East William Street and observed a vehicle swerving, causing both driver side tires to cross into a turn lane.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop. The driver slowed to nearly a complete stop in the road way, then slowly moved to the right, hitting the curb, momentarily coming to a complete stop.
The deputy approached the driver's side door and noticed a driver and passenger. The officer spoke with the driver, and noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. He had red, watery eyes and slurred speech. The officer asked the man if he had been drinking. He replied he had consumed one beer.
The man agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .231 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. The man provided an evidentiary blood test. Bail: $1,224.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 5:10 a.m. for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and failure to maintain a lane.
According to the booking report a deputy responded to a reporting party who advised to dispatch they had seen a vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel, and had possible got into an accident at the intersection of South Edmonds Drive and Fairview. The reporting party said they didn't see the accident because the suspect vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, south on Edmonds. The vehicle stopped at Marsh Road and Hells Bells Road.
A deputy arrived and saw the vehicle had major damage to the front, and that the front, back and side windows were shattered. It was later determined that the vehicle the man was driving had drove into a ditch earlier.
The officer observed a man standing on the driver side of the vehicle. He identified himself, but couldn't pronounce his last name. Paramedics were called because the man had noticeable bruising on the left side of his forehead, and nose and scratches on his right and left arm. The man was medically cleared where he advised paramedics that he did not want to go the hospital.
A deputy spoke with the man. The deputy observed the man had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. He was asked if he consumed alcohol, and the man replied he had 6 tequila shots at a casino. The man consented to a preliminary breath test with a result of .237. The driver was determined he could not make a coherent decision about Nevada Implied Consent. The Carson City District Attorney's Office was contacted and a judge granted a warrant for a blood draw. Bail: $1,224.
— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 4:24 a.m. for suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain a lane.
According to the booking report, a deputy traveling north on North Carson Street approaching Musser Street observed a sedan following another vehicle in close proximity. The officer conducted a u-turn and began to follow the sedan and observed it swerve to the right, causing both driver-side tires to cross into the center lane. The sedan corrected and continued southbound at low speeds. The vehicle then swerved to the right causing both passenger tires to cross into the bicycle lane.
The deputy made a traffic stop. During contact, the officer observed the man had red, watery eyes, slurred speech and had an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The man consented to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .145 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. The driver consented to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $1,224.
