Carson City, Quad County COVID-19 weekly update: 3 deaths, 99 new cases

Carson City Health and Human Services reports in its weekly update Thursday that there are three deaths, 99 new cases and 57 recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region from July 15 through July 21, 2021.
For the week, CCHHS is reporting 3 additional deaths due to COVID-19. The individuals were 2 Lyon County residents and a Carson City resident. CCHHS is also reporting 99 new cases and 57 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 13,331, with 12,872 recoveries and 233 deaths; 226 cases remain active.
Carson City had 1 death, 37 new cases, and 11 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 5 new cases per day with a 7.7% test positivity rate.
Douglas County had 27 new cases and 14 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 3 new cases per day with a 6.2% test positivity rate.
Lyon County had 2 deaths, 35 new cases, and 30 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 4 new cases per day with a 10.2% test positivity rate.
Storey County had no new cases and 2 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 0.0% test positivity rate.
COVID-19 Vaccination Update
As of July 21, 2021, approximately 167,659 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 68,830 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 72,473 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 78,945 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna).

In Carson City, 28,156 residents have been completely vaccinated and 30,587 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 56.28% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Douglas County, 22,775 residents have been completely vaccinated and 24,377 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 51.62% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Lyon County, 21,064 residents have been completely vaccinated and 23,460 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 42.02% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Storey County, 478 residents have been completely vaccinated and 521 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 11.68% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
Upcoming CCHHS Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
All vaccines are available on a walk-in basis at every event for first and second doses. COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or proof of first dose is required for second dose.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing For Those With Symptoms Or Who Have Been Exposed
CCHHS will be hosting a drive-thru COVID-19 testing event in Fernley on July 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Fernley City Hall (595 Silver Lace Blvd. Fernley). This event is for those who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or who were exposed to someone with COVID-19. Tests are available on a first come, first serve basis; no appointments or pre-registration needed.
Protect Your Health From Wildfire Smoke Exposure
Wildfire season is here and with it came the smoke. Wildfire smoke creates tiny particles in the air that can cause health concerns such as coughing, wheezing, difficulty breathing, eye irritation, Asthma attacks, sore throats, and headaches. Those with heart and lung issues, children, pregnant women, adults age 65 and older, and smokers may feel the effects of wildfire smoke exposure the most. Protect your health when smoke is in the air by limiting your time outside, close the windows and doors when possible, set your air conditioner to recirculate, and drink plenty of water.
