Construction underway for ‘Altair’ complex, buildings demolished on Stewart, William
If you’ve recently driven in the area of Stewart and E. William Street in Carson City, you may have noticed a few vacancies in the landscape.
The strip mall that once held Dubois Health Food Center, as well as the shops at the corner of Stewart and Washington, have all been torn down. The site also once housed the historic Virginia and Truckee Railroad engine shops, which were demolished in 1991.
This is due to the incoming “upscale” complex know as the Altair which was first announced in October 2022.
The Las Vegas-based company KB Acquisitions acquired the 5-acre lot in downtown Carson City for $3 million for the purpose of creating a luxury complex of 207 units aimed toward state workers and legislators.
The property includes a “full slate of amenities in keeping with its location in close proximity to the high employment base of the Nevada State Capitol,” according to Nevada Premier Commercial.
The project will consist of 7 studios, 121 one-bedroom apartments, and 79 two-bedroom apartments, along with a parking garage.
In addition to the three-story residential buildings, a clubhouse, fitness center, and swimming pool are planned.
The complex should be finished sometime in 2024, according to the original release.
