Carson City spring job fair open to job seekers and students
With spring and summer around the corner, job opportunities have begun to sprout up around Carson City and Northern Nevada. Job seekers and students are encouraged to take advantage of a spring job fair planned for Friday, March 17 at the Carson City Community Center.
Western Nevada College and Carson City Health and Human Services are hosting the fair, open to job seekers and WNC students. The fair runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at the community center, 851 E. William St. Veterans will be able to enter the Job Fair at 1:30 P.M. for early admission.
More than 50 employers have already committed to participating in the event. Employers attending the Job Fair represent the following industries: state and city government, retail, gaming, staffing agencies, utility companies, home health, security and more. Resources include Job Opportunities of Nevada (JOIN), Nevada Job Connect and Ron Wood Family Resource Center.
Job Seekers should bring an updated resume, dress to be interviewed, and be prepared to complete applications. Workshops for interview and resume preparation are being held at Carson City Health & Human Services (900 East Long Street) each Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Job seekers and WNC students can prepare for the job fair by attending a Dress for Success seminar presented by WNC’s Employment Skills Club from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 10 in Cedar Building Room 206.
The Carson City Spring Job Fair is an ideal time to speak to and recruit college students, graduates and community members for job openings. There is no cost. Bring copies of your resume and meet employers. There will be opportunities for jobs and internships at the fair.
Local industries that will be in attendance include manufacturing/production, government (local and state agencies), transportation, home health care/assisted living, gaming/hospitality, education, sales, publishing, insurance, food service and more.
