Healthy Communities meeting Thursday features speakers from Neighbor Network of Northern Nevada
Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC) hosts a public breakfast meeting every other month at the Silver Springs Community Center. The next meeting is Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023 at 9 a.m.
Each meeting includes introductions from all attending, presentations by guest speakers, and discussion and updates about collaborative efforts to increase access to health care; nutritious food; workforce development; and prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.
The guest speakers for the Dec. 14 meeting will be from Neighbor Network of Northern Nevada. Also known as N4, the organization “connects Northern Nevadans for inclusive, community-based services, volunteer opportunities, and affordable transportation.”
Among their programs serving our area are Community Care, Volunteer Village and Time Exchange. N4’s Community Care program supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, dementia, and related conditions, as well as their family care partners. The Volunteer Village program allows people to work directly with N4 or local organizations that provide fun and diverse opportunities throughout Northern Nevada. N4’s Time Exchange is a way for community members to give and receive services, without exchanging any money.
The Silver Springs Community Center is on the left side of the building that also houses the Senior Center, located at 2945 Fort Churchill Street, Silver Springs, Nevada 89429. HCC’s December 14 meeting takes place in the Lahontan Room.
