Carson Tosses Wooster With Ease
On Wednesday, the Senators of Carson High School hosted the Colts of Wooster in the Carson's first home wrestling duel of the season. Carson was the heavy favorite to win from the very beginning thanks to forfeits in five weight classes and tradition has shown that the Senators are almost always favored to win at any duel thanks to Carson's ability produce consistently impressive wrestling teams.
Into the action we go and this duel began at the 170 weight pound class with Able Carter getting pinned in one minute and twenty-five seconds. After three forfeits, a quick ten second Brady Rivera pin and a thirty-one second Sheldon Miller pin the Senators leaped ahead very far very quickly to 30-6. The next match up was one of the most anticipated of the night as state champion Ian Timmins squared off against Carson's very talented Brandon Basa. The contest was very entertaining including a near fall from each competitor, but ultimately it was Timmins who would persevere after three rounds with a score of 13-8. "Basa wrestled great with Timmins," head coach Paul Carter commented, "the big issue for Basa was that he was underweight which leaves him at a big disadvantage."
Following the match was a swift twenty-four second Casey Stevens pin which left the duel score at 36-9. After three minutes, nine seconds, Jake Roman of Carson was pinned, but another forfeit soon after really didn't leave any chance for a comeback. Nathan Mersino lost a 4-5 battle off points and Brady o' Keefe made quick work of his opponent winning by tech fall. One more Wooster forfeit and a nineteen second Nolan Shine pin left us with the final score of this contest at Carson: 59, Wooster: 18.
