Carson City Quality of Life Month activities finish up this Saturday, Nov. 20
The Carson City Parks, Rec & Open Space's activities for the Quality of Life Month are finishing up with a Free Swim Day at the Carson City Aquatic Center and Junior Park Ranger Day at Carson River Park this Saturday, Nov. 20.
The Carson City Aquatic Facility is celebrating the Quality of Life Initiative by opening up the indoor pool for free admission on November 20 from 12:30pm to 4:30pm! Recent improvements to the aquatic facility were funded in part by the Quality of Life fund. Contact the Carson City Aquatic Facility for more information: (775) 887-2242
Park Rangers will be set up under the pavilion at Carson River Park from 10:00am-2:00pm on November 20, welcoming families to Junior Park Ranger Day! Kids of all ages will receive a FREE JR Ranger Adventure Guide, go on an adventure with a Carson City Park Ranger, compete in a Leave No Trace Scavenger Hunt, and receive help completing the Adventure Guide. Once completed, they'll earn an official patch and be sworn in as a Carson City Junior Park Ranger!
See video here.
The Adventure Guides are recommended for grades 1-6, but all grade and age groups are welcome to participate! All supplies needed to complete the Adventure Guides will be provided on site and were professionally printed with funds provided by the River Wranglers.
As part of the festivities, Park Rangers will also be leading three different adventures throughout the day:
1. Prison Hill BINGO. Hike to Silver Saddle Ranch and the foothills of Prison Hill to fill out your Prison Hill BINGO card and learn everything you wanted to know about Prison Hill! The adventure begins at 10:00am.
2. Coyote Walk
Walk along the Carson River and learn all about our backyard K-9s! Adventure starts at 11:00am.
3. Feces Frolic
Walk with a Park Ranger and learn how to identify the different types of animal scat you may find on our trails! This adventure begins at 1:00pm.
All adventures are free and do not require preregistration; they will last roughly 30 minutes. If you plan on joining the Park Rangers on one or all of the adventures, plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start time.
The Leave No Trace Scavenger Hunt will start at 12:00pm! After getting a quick introduction to Leave No Trace Principles, teams/individuals will be given a set of clues to guide them through Carson River Park. The first three teams/individuals to finish win a prize!
