Eastern Sierra history program focuses on tragedy at St. Francis Dam
This Sunday, Nov. 20, Wylder Resort Hope Valley continues its Eastern Sierra history series with a 50-minute slide show program, Tragedy at St. Francis Dam-The Worst Manmade Disaster in California History.
On March 12, 1928, the city of Los Angeles’s St Francis Dam collapsed killing over 600 people and destroying everything in its 50-mile rampage to the sea. The colossal engineering failure brought disgrace to the LA Aqueduct’s William Mulholland, while the Los Angeles Water Bureau did everything it could to erase the horrific event from history.
This free program is open to the public and will be inside the heated tent at Wylder Resort Hope Valley just one mile east of the Hwy 88 & 89 junction in Hope Valley. Wylder will also be offering a lunch special during the history program. Please call David at (760) 920-8061 for more information.
