Carson City local, MOD Comics to Launch Kickstarter for New Comic Book 'Champion'
Mayors of Dorkville and MOD Comics is a small comic book imprint started by Mike and Christian Robison of Twin Falls, ID and Carson City, NV. On December 1st they are launching a Kickstarter to fund the first print run of their new story “Champion.”
Champion follows a thirty-something millennial named Ben. He’s nothing special. He has a wife and a son that he that he loves very much. He is a carpenter who flips houses for a living. And for better or worse he is really comfortable with the stride he has hit in his life.
Ben’s story is set in modern America. A place that is growing more ideologically divided every day, and where crime and violence are on the rise. But if you work hard and keep your head down you just might avoid having to confront the tension.
When his four year old son Max is taken by human traffickers, Ben will realize that he is hopelessly unequipped to protect the people that he loves from the intentions of wicked men. But just when he needs it most, a strange encounter with a mysterious man named Sam will give Ben powers that will transform his life and his family, and change the entire world forever. Ben’s powers will become a beacon of hope and justice for all mankind as well as the human race’s greatest threat.
Champion Issue 0.5 is a pilot issue for a larger superhero tale that explores issues of altruistic heroism, post traumatic stress, and differing views and
methods of justice. And it’s all grounded in an all too familiar modern America.
You can help by pledging to their Kickstarter at any amount.
Pledges of $5 or more gets you a free PDF of Champion Issue 0.5. Pledges of $15 or more gets you a autographed physical copy of the comic. And the rewards just get better from there.
