Grand celebration of 150th birthday of Nevada and Diwali Festival by TACH
TACH (Traditional Association for Cultural Harmony) International, Inc. a nonprofit organization celebrated “150th Birthday of Nevada and Festival of Diwali” on Oct 18th, 2014 @ Laxalt Auditorium, (UNR), Reno with the collaboration of Indo-American artists & Community. The concert present an Indian Dance, Indian Classical Kachappi Veena, Violin and Sarod.
The event starts with the welcome speech of Tanya Singh who lightened about TACH. She said that TACH promotes World Music and Dance along with artist management, concert, seminar, festivals, workshop, music education and development of traditional cultural harmony. She also mention that TACH is going to establish a Music & Meditation center where one can learn how to find the peace to heal mind, body & soul through music. She told that this center can be a destination where people can explore music in all forms. She also introduced the visiting artists and local artists of this event.
TACH received proclamation from Mayor of Reno Robert A. Cashell, Greeting from the Governor of Nevada Brian Sandoval and Certificate of Recognition from the Senator Dean Heller. Mr. Pete Fairley and Jane speak aloud the Proclamations and letters TACH received.
Event starts with the Sarod played by Danny Birch who learn from India &Nepal and he composed directed and performed music for number of dramas. He was accompanied by Jim Meiklejohn on tabla. The event followed by India’s world famous Odissi Dance presented by Anindita Nanda who was visiting from Connecticut and is a danseuse par excellence and is a rare combination of dancer, classical vocalist, choreographer, teacher & scholar. Her dance has the excellent blend of sensuous movement. She is the recipient of several awards. She performed in a three part. In between Anindita’s performance there was a Violin performance played by Ravi Pandita who was visiting from Sacramento. He is an Indian style of Violin player and he started learning and recording music at very early age. He was accompanied by Ganesh Swami on Indian Harp and Pete Fairley on Tabla. Chakrapani Singh the president of TACH played Raag Raageshwari on his famous Kachappi Veena. Audiences remembering Pt. Ravi Shankar and comparing him with Chakrapani Singh’s playing that how similar it is. He is one of the generations brightest stars with a career that promises to be illustrious and innovative. Each steps of Chakrapani’s everlasting love and fiery passion for music is undoubtedly going to be a captivating and joyful journey for the music lovers of the world. This Maverick Musician leaves every music lover spell bound with his flashes of unparalleled brilliance and his uncanny ability to strike an instant rapport with the audiences transcending of all age barriers. Pete Fairley accompany Chakrapani Singh on Tabla. The event concludes with the third part of Anindita’s performance where she got the standing ovation and no audiences want to leave the auditorium. Before the event TACH organized a two day workshop of the India’s world famous ancient dance form Odissi, which was highly appreciated.
The audiences were enchanted and hooked with all the artist performances.
The event was a grand success with the collaboration of Indo-American audiences of the community and the visiting artist performances.
