Local Shelter Dog National Hunting Champion
Ginger, a dog adopted from the shelter in Carson City, went to the Barn Hunt National and won big. She now can add the 2016 Grand National Championship, Versatility Championship, and Games Silver Medalist to last year's Games Championship. This makes her the most decorated dog in all of Barn Hunt's more than 22,000 competing dogs by winning the Gold in all three divisions.
Barn Hunt is a fun game in which a handler and dog search a course of straw for rats hidden safely in tubes. The dog sport is very popular in the Reno/Carson City area where some of the top dogs in the country hail. It is also an excellent sport for a dog that is new to dog sports.
John Fisher and Liz Leisek, Ginger's human family, are actively involved in barn hunt as well as other dog sports. When they are not traveling to judge, compete, and train handlers and dogs, you can find them doing the same in Carson City. Dog Sports America can be reached at (800) 531-1148 if you are interested in training.
