Douglas High senior starts new non-profit to help underprivileged kids get start in rodeo
Local Douglas High School Senior Hannah-Beth Tems launches new Non-profit association “Dare To Be A Cowboy” in efforts to help youth across the nation participate in Rodeo.
Rodeo is considered one of the toughest sports to get started in in America, the expense and training needed for youth is a high barrier to entry that many youth just are unable to overcome. Dare To Be A Cowboy, A new Non-Profit Movement that was started this spring by local Douglas High School Student Hannah-Beth Tems. Hannah-Beth has a burning desire, created in part from her love for Rodeo and seeing her friend unable to participate because of the costs, to get help for youth that have a desire to Rodeo but not the means in which to make it happen.
As an organization, Dare To Be A Cowboy takes nominations from across the country for youth that need assistance with finances, training, or equipment. They then turn to sponsors, donors and trainers to find resources to help these youth get started. Dare To Be A Cowboy’s first participant was from right here in Northern Nevada, helping a young man from Fallon find a sponsor for his entry fees for an upcoming Rodeo event.
Dare To Be A Cowboy has set up a process for accepting donations of equipment, training and finances through their website at www.daretobeacowboy.com. “The response has been incredible”, say Hannah-Beth, “I started this mission on Facebook early this spring and instantly people from around the nation started asking me how to help. Dare To Be A Cowboy with the help of my family and few business friends became a reality in August 2014 as it became obvious that there was a need that could be filled and the Dare To Be A Cowboy idea was being well received.”
At this time Dare To Be a Cowboy is seeking Sponsors and Donations to help with the movement. Nominations are being received online now at www.daretobeacowboy.com for more information or how you can best help please feel free to contact us at info@daretobeacowboy.com.
