Sapien Wears the Silver Oak Crown in Carson City
Jim Sapien is the 2018 Sunday Men’s Club champion at Silver Oak golf course in Carson City. Sapien fired 69-72 to best Milo Beauchman by five strokes during the two-day club championship Aug. 18-19. Larry Johnson carded a 76-73 to finish third.
Ben Gelbaum was the low net (after handicap is applied) over the field with a 133. In the first flight net, Johnson was third with 135 and John Owens close behind at 137.
In the second flight (players with higher handicaps), William Kapczynski and Kevin Silsby tied for first at 139 and father and son Vern Payette (142) was third and Jordan Payette (143) was fourth.
The Sunday Men's Club offers those 18 and over an environment to compete competitively with friends, co-workers and even family members. The season runs mid-March through October. Weekly games and optional gross/net skins games culminate in the season long FredEx Cup Points race.
