Carson City's RSVP collecting food and clothing donations for local veterans
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Inc., also known as RSVP, is collecting food and clothing donations for local veterans now through Sept. 8, 2021.
Donations can be dropped off at the RSVP Office located on 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 6, Carson City, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All donations will benefit local veterans in need. Donated items will be distributed to veterans on Sept. 11, 2021, the National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Items most needed are toiletries (new), winter apparel, new or gently used clothing, undergarments (new), and canned and packaged non-perishable foods.
“Carson City is home to senior veterans in need, and we want to dedicate this donation drive to serve them,” said Molly Walt, C.E.O.
Every year, communities across America come together to perform acts of service on September 11th, a federally recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance. This year, the national nonprofit 9/11 Day has set a goal “to
inspire Americans and others to perform 20 million good deeds in remembrance and tribute for the 20th anniversary of 9/11.”
9/11 Day is a chance to recapture the spirit of unity that swept the nation in the aftermath of 9/11, while paying tribute with acts of service to those lost on September 11, 2001, heroic first responders, and the countless others who serve to defend the nation’s freedom at home and around the globe.
RSVP is pledging to contribute to the 20 million good deeds with this food and clothing drive. For more information
