Carson City Historical Society hosts free ice cream social on Aug. 12
The annual Carson City Historical Society's Ice Cream Social is Saturday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum Park, 1207 N. Carson Street, Carson City.
The five-piece group David & Friends, most of whom are members of the Mile High Jazz Band, will provide free entertainment, including traditional jazz and songs from the Great American Songbook. Enjoy ice cream with toppings and cookies for a reasonable price. Bring a chair, use one of ours, or bring a blanket and sit on the grass to enjoy the evening's entertainment.
Also, "In Plein Air," an exhibit of watercolors by Andrea Hobbs will be on display concurrently in the Foreman-Roberts House from 5 to 7 p.m. during the Ice Cream Social. The exhibit will also be on display during Historical Society's Open Houses on subsequent Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Carson City Historical Society sponsors the ice cream social event, and it is part of the 20th annual Jazz & Beyond Music Festival, which runs from Aug. 11 through Aug. 21. For detailed information of the more than 20 performances during the festival, go to JazzCarsonCity.com.
