Carson City Park Rangers open second 'Team Scorpion Search' event July 28
Due to the popularity of the Scorpion Search, Park Rangers have opened up a second Team Scorpion Search event scheduled for Friday, July 28, 2023 from 9 to 10 pm. Online registration is required for both Scorpion Search events.
To ensure safety of the participants and protection of the trail, the event needs to be adequately staffed and planned for. There are 10 team spots available; only the team leader needs to register online.
Grab your friends/family, create a team, and join the Carson City Park Rangers for the third annual Scorpion Searching competition! You and your team will be given a black light, a data collection sheet and set free on the Wild Horse Trail to find all the scorpions you can find. They glow under the black light which makes this activity unlike anything you've done before.
The activity is considered "More Difficult" under the IMBA Trail Rating system. Expect uneven terrain, rocks, and sandy sections under the night sky. You will be traveling off trail, so also expect some unmanaged terrain. Black lights will be provided, so all you need to bring is water, close-toed shoes, long pants, and an excitement for scorpions! Dress in your best black light attire to make your team stand out!
Date: Friday, July 28, 2023
Time: 9:00pm - 10:00pm
Location: Wild Horse Trail located at the North end of Centennial Park.
